楊男今天清晨6時左右開車載一名女性友人到武聖路一家早餐店買早餐時，被曾遭楊男撞傷的員警認出，並查出楊男因涉妨害性自主案件遭通緝。兩名員警上前盤查時，楊男見狀逃逸。
員警潘培超對空鳴槍一發示警後，楊男假意配合，卻在員警執行上銬過程時拒捕，拉扯過程中以暴力手段強行奪走潘培超剛放回槍套中的警槍。楊男隨後在附近巷弄中逃竄，一度鑽入防火巷，躲進一處沒有人在民宅，伺機逃離時還曾被附近民眾目擊報警。
警方在案發地周遭地區執行全面性查訪，並調閱監視器畫面追緝。下午4時許在文和街一處興建中的透天民宅工地6樓頂樓處，發現楊男蹤跡，距離案發地點不到500公尺。
因為當時正在下雨，楊男蹲在用來覆蓋工地堆放混凝土包的帆布內躲雨，被員警找到時正在抽菸。警槍放在塑膠袋內，置放在一旁的地上。楊男這次面對員警時沒有抵抗，隨後被帶回警局接受偵訊。
警方初步調查，楊男逃逸過程中曾想攔計程車，但沒有成功。後來到雜貨店買了香菸、汽水、礦泉水等物品，逃到工地頂樓躲藏，躲了約兩個小時後被發現，詳細案情還需進一步釐清。

警方指出，過程中潘培超的警槍遭楊男奪走，勤指中心獲報後調度線上警力攔截圍捕。分局長吳清飛也立即率帶大批警力趕往封鎖現場，管制人車出入，在附近巷弄執行圍捕行動。
搜索行動到了上午9時許無所獲，警方解除現場封鎖，循線展開追捕。楊男原本是開車載著一名女性友人前往買早餐，楊男逃逸後，女性友人及所開的車輛都被警方帶回警局。

楊男事後將轎車及車內女友丟在現場，並逃往至北區和緯、武聖路口，再逃至武聖路197巷躲藏，警方一度封鎖該區域路段，發動線上警力圍捕，但至上午9時許無獲，已解除封路，轉往其他地點搜索。據警方調查，楊男遭兩警盤查時，企圖逃跑，潘警進行追捕，掏槍對空鳴槍1發警告，楊嫌則停住腳步，假裝配合，但待警欲上前近身逮捕時，卻突然襲警奪槍逃逸。

員警吳學昱今年4月間，盤查遭通緝的楊嫌，還遭楊騎機車衝撞，導致手腳擦挫傷、胸悶送醫，今又與楊狹路相逢；而遭奪槍的潘培超則是94年特考班畢業，2人相表示當自責，現與同仁共同追查楊的下落。據了解，今晨警員盤查遭通緝的楊嫌，當時對方一度逃跑，潘員對空鳴槍，雙方追逐到早餐店斜對面的超商店前，嫌犯先假意投降，接著就與潘員爆發扭打，過程中員警的警用手槍遭楊嫌搶走逃逸，跑進武聖路151巷弄內。警方馬上動員轄區警力封鎖現場搜索，不過均無所獲，因此暫時撤退大批搜索警力，僅留少數制服警力在場路檢、臨檢及調閱道路監視器畫面。
