No.The surgeon who operated on her mom is one Dr Victor Chao Tar Toong (Smelly Big Hole). Is he the son of the late ah bui pathologist, Dr Chao Tzee Cheng?
Doctors are not miracle healers. They do their best under the circumstances plus people have to realise that knowledge of how the human body works is extremely limited. My estimate is that doctors understand less than 1% of what is going on. As far is the brain is concerned we probably only understand 0.00001%.
The fact that lives are being saved daily despite the big gaps in knowledge is remarkable and credit must be given where it is due.
I think one problem with medicine is that it is not results based.
Doctors are not paid to get results. They are paid to just see you. Talk to you. Operate on you. Doesnt matter if it is successful or a failure.
If we moved towards massively higher remuneration for getting results and nothing for failures there might be more progress.
It would also mean doctors would ignore lost causes and let them die.
Spot on!Based upon what I have heard from my Dr relatives doctors nowadays just follow the protocols as it is the safest course of action.
If they deviate from the protocols regarding a particular treatment and things don't work out they are in bigger shit than if they followed the procedures spelt out and the patient died anyway.
