I know that forummer Johnny is an advocate of this and I have previously adviced him that there is no medical evidence to back this therapy unless you are looking at heavy metal poisoning. I feel that people should be aware and not be caught up with this fad. This is very similar to colon cleansing that became popular until a lady died and the authorities stepped in

If you google "Chelation Therapy", straight away you see that all the hits question this form of intervention. Those who are keen to understand more should read an excellent book by scientists Prof Edzard Ernst and Dr Simon Singh called "Trick or Treat". it's an excellent reference book for all alternative medicine. You can buy the ebook for a song on Amazon.

I came across the book when a relative was referred to a supposedly "world renown cancer clinic" in Mexico manned by American professionals. Why Mexico only to find it out they will be not be allowed to practice in the US and the "professional" fly back each weekend after conning people.

Another trend is the number of medically qualified people and I mean qualified doctors who have gone into alternative medicine for the money. So even if a doctor offers Chelation Therapy for "health reasons" turn it down or go to a specialist to see if you have heavy metals in you which you should not. MOH has been checking Indian and Chinese medicines for years to detect for heavy metals and if you eat normally or not consume unknown medication, you should have heavy metals in the first place. It is also rubbish to claim that the blood needs to be cleaned regularly.

Ageing people and Hypochondriacs are no different to new age Christian zealots both in faith and proselytising, blind with nothing to back it up but just hope. No matter how you explain to your mum and dad, they will still insist on trying a magnetic mattress at least for the placebo effect.

I know that Johnny means well and many of the diet suggestions are good and really common sense, but certain things are certainly questionable.

Chelation has been around for since WW 1. Can read about the history here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelation_therapy

It is a treatment that is available in Spore & Malaysia & must be conducted by a certified doctor. The treatment rids the heavy metals from your body. It is believed that these foreign heavy metals pollute & impairs the body's function.

Nowadays many believe many medical problems is a result of pollution from what we eat & our environment. Chelation is simply a procedure to Detox the body.

IV Chelation is the introduction of a solution of EDT, magnesium, Vitamin C,......intravenously. If you are interested to find out more you can get the books
http://www.amazon.com/Bypassing-Byp...2972/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1313293008&sr=8-3
http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Sh...=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313293147&sr=1-1

If you have a heart problem in Spore, a cardiologist will be happy to recommend the installation of stents. It is an expensive procedure & can can be dangerous. You may be have an adverse reaction to the dye used, your vessel might be ruptured,... So read the small print before going for an angioplasty. Just google about the dangers of stents.

Compared to IV Chelation where even your family doctor can administer it. I recommend people look into both chelation AND EECP. My experience is not unique & you will find thousands of people with heart problems who are alive today because of chelation & EECP.

I'm talking from 1st hand experience & as a heart attack survivor not as a hypochondriac:)
Medicine has been politicised or rather monetized in Spore. Profitable$$ treatments are being advocated at the expense of cheaper alternatives.

I told him once before but he is still recommending that clinic in JB. Anyway for those who are interested the book "Trick or Treatment cost USD 9.15 on Amazon. It will come useful as older relatives and friends tend to fall victims to alternative treatments that don't do anything. I remember how a medical doctor and his receptionist wife cheated a cancer victim of a fortune with bogus treatment. He was charged in court with his wife and he was also struck of the medical register for good. The sick are vulnerable.

The intention is not to convince you. I tried but like Christian convert, you are hooked. The idea is to educate others to do their own research. The fact that when you key in "Chelation Therapy" in google all the red flags and warning bells are there from the first hit. I am sure that is quite telling. True Medical science does not use the word Therapy. It's a medical procedure to remove heavy metals not blood cleansing.

In the Emigration folder, one of vet forummers cheated a host of Forummers who migrated to Canada including one chap who was seriously ill. This guy parted with his savings and its all gone. His wife cheated Filipino workers looking for job in Canada. I thus tend to be sensitive to these things. I know you are trying to help but you are misleading others on a hope and a prayer with no science behind it.

once he quote a book by linus pauling i almost fainted. although that fellow is a nobel prize winner, that particular book he published was his last (he died few months later after that book was published for sales), and particular book almost EVERYONE in the medical field disagree with the content and think he has gone senile. its about taking super high dose of vitamin C to stay healthy.

the moment he use that book to support his point, i decided to ignore him totally. I believe he does not has a full idea behind what had happened then.

read the title what are they used for. chelating YES is used as a treatment but more for those with problem of heavy metal poisoning or removal of radioactive elements introduced in the body during imaging/treatment. YES NO ISSUE, everyone does it.

BUT, not suka suka healthy individual just go for it as it for fun think its good for your health. They use things like EDTA, which bind to many of the important trace element like Zn (bind very strongly), Fe (BIND EVEN STRONGLY) and sodium (strength should be weaker due to size and charge). its never a good idea to wash off all these trace element in your body. u are killing urself

Forget it go kill yourself for all i care. i given up long ago

You can find qualified chelation practioners worldwide in Spore, Malaysia, LOS, US, Europe. I'm simply providing info on a Malaysian doctor who is offering this treatment. I've also have provided other forumers with info on doctors in Spore who are doing this procedure because he preferred doing it in Spore.

Regarding the doctor who cheated the cancer patient, how does it relate to chelation:confused: Chelation is a way to detox the body of heavy metals & the cost per treatment is well publicised. It doesn't cost thousands of dollars. If a doctor tried to over charge, simply go to another doctor:rolleyes:

The debate about chelation is whether it is an effective treatment for heart problems. In my case I received both chelatin & EECP(Enhanced External Counter Pulsation) treatment & found it effective. The person who 1st recommended chelation was himself a heart patient. He's still alive & doing well without any stents or heart by-pass operation.
