Beleaguered PAP MP for Tampines GRC Baey Yam Keng has defended the PAP’s controversial policy of ‘differentiating’ PRs from Singapore citizens which has been a sore point of contention among many voters in the last General Election.
After being rapped by netizens for appearing to ‘sympathize’ with PRs on them paying more than Singaporeans for upgrading of lifts, Mr Baey now says it is a ‘fair’ policy that citizens ‘naturally’ enjoy certain privileges:
“All will have to pay their share. There are various installment plans available, both for PR and Singaporeans…Personally I feel this is a fair policy.”

He added that there is now ‘greater’ differentiation between Singapore citizens and PRs, using the recent changes made to the registration process for primary one places as an example:
“Citizens naturally will enjoy certain privileges, and we are seeing greater differentiation now. The recent changes to the P1 enrollment is one example
