The reasons to low birth rates are definitely not as you stated. There are more than these which the govt does not acknowledge.

SMRT generates profits from commuters year after year..... But it takes ages for them to even install basic barriers..

Every year, there'll be gory deaths in our MRT stations..

How many more Singaporean's lives are to be sacrificied in the rail way tracks..???

They want to jump the tracks, not their fault what!, 60% sais yes, what to do, life goes on, another 5 years to repent!!

The problem is our Sinkie Kiasu mentality... All want to rush into the train, thats why people may accidently fall onto the tracks! Sometimes people even push one another to "form" a Q infront of the yellow line... Kiasu ones will jump infront of Q beyond the yellow line just before train pulls into the station!

Commuters should be educated with first cum first in system... Show a little bit of kindness - "what" begins with Me?!

My observation is that many of those rushing are "new" Sporeans. Many of them are used to pushing & shoving while many Sporeans have been trained to queue.
