I rather they keep the money in GIC and Temasek then than payout to the peasants to spend on prostitutes and gmabling

And have them waste the money like dumping in salt water (hum sui hooy)...its the peoples choice how they choose to use their own money..the gov is giving all sorts of crap reasons for trying delay the payout for as long as possible.

The soaring flat prices, the 30 year housing loan, coupled with the cursory housing grant are all part of the government's "package" to make sure that the majority of Singaporeans work hard, stay obedient and keep their noses to the grindstone or their heads just above water as long as possible.
That's all there is to it. You can also say that the housing grant is a small incentive to achieve a big objective or that it's used as a bait.
