Careworker Caught On Camera Abusing Elderly Patient <object height="385" width="640">

A care worker has been charged with abusing a 91-year-old woman after her actions were caught on camera.
The disturbing footage emerged after the victim's family noticed bruising on the elderly woman's face. Carmen Pereira, 52, was arrested after the woman's relatives showed police the footage from a Skype feed set up to record continuously in the patient's room in New Jersey, US. The camera had been set up so the family could communicate more easily with the woman who suffers from Alzheimer's.
Pereira had been with the family for 11 years and there had never been any sign there was a problem before, the family has said. "Heartbreaking, it is, to see your own mother abused by a person whom you trusted for so many years," said her daughter Bernadine Samin, who lives in Virginia.
Pereira has been charged with assault and neglect charges, and has been released on bail. The victim's daughters Ms Samin and Cresencia Obaldo, from Jersey City, said they had allowed police to release the video to raise awareness of this sort of abuse.
