come on guys! still on this stupid topic! no need to talk so much! if 2016 GE workers' party won more than half of the seats in parliament, i doubt lky will activate the army or even police. ask yourself a simple question, who will you defend? i will defend Singapore, but not pap. mind you WP won more than half of the seats, they are the majority now and can form a gov. So legally they are the gov and i will defend the gov of the people, by the people, for the people! not some overthrown stupid pap useless political party that sold sg to foreigners for economic returns. i will shoot anyone trying to harm the people or the government, including my commanding officer. No. Opposition could get up to 30 seats. It is a reality. The maths is right. Because of the gerrymandering, 40% did not convert into 32 seats. But there is a double issue. Some new citizens do not want to leave Singapore as other places are just as bad and in order to prevent losing their benefits to new immigrants will flip. So even with newer citizen input it could be 45% opposition votes which will suddenly see 30 seats. There is a limit to gerrymandering when the opposition votes approaches 50%.

I believe it had already been said somewhere that the ultimate aim of this so called population ponzi is not strictly just economic but it carries a very sinister collateral agenda.

The PAP wants to stay in power.

Highly skilled or specialised PMETs are not interested in becoming your citizens, the lowly skilled refugee types from Myanmar and Vietnamese and pinoyland would be eternally grateful to live here. So the solution for the PAP is 2 pronged. On the one hand they get all the refugee class to be citizens and help suppress wages for the lowly skilled who will remain as the servants to the Aristocratic classes. These new migrants will also be very grateful to the PAP and the additional million of them will help buffer up the hardcore PAP 35% plus whoever is dumb enough to still vote for them. This has been happening and by 2016, the first extra mil will be likely to be these grateful refugee class.

The highly skilled opportunists will still be the PRs and do what they have been doing here in sg all this while, exploit the system but keep one foot at the door to escape back to their original country. they are happy to come here and work and spend and help buffer the singapore economy.

In the end the economic agenda is not the aim of the PAP solution, its the political one which holds sway.

bro, this is something the pap fear too. foreigners when became singaporean and start to face the heat, they will want changes and stop influx of immigrants too!!! although extreme, i even boldly predicted Chinese and pinoy might even form their own political parties. the Singapore Communist Party by the Chinese immigrants from China and Pinoy Democratic Party by the pinoy. i would want to see LKY use ISA on them!
