Looks like the PAP Government’s policy on foreign talent has been officially reiterated by LKY – it’ll be business as usual as far as the PAP Government’s pro-foreigner immigration policy is concerned. This can only surely mean increasingly tougher times ahead for local born and bred Singaporeans.

Those Singaporeans who voted for the PAP in GE 2011 (foolishly thinking that the PAP Government will toughen up its immigration policy) can now kick themselves in the butt and repent. They have done themselves and their children a total disservice. They will now have to more aggressively compete with the foreign talent. Their children will also have to more aggressively compete with the children of the foreign talent.

Those Singaporeans who foolishly voted for the PAP in GE 2011 have now been reminded by LKY that they are not good enough and that they are not talented enough – and that’s why LKY prefers foreign talent. If they are happy about what LKY has said, then they should have their heads checked.

The only option for those foolish voters is to patiently endure the increasing pain and to remember to switch their votes to the opposition in GE 2016. They have to be smart and join the 40% who voted against the PAP.

The PAP Government’s obsession with being No. 1 in everything at double-quick time is clearly one of the reasons why it is also obsessed with opening the doors so widely to foreigners. Such an obsession will look good on the PAP ministers’ resume. But it’s the locally born and bred Singaporeans who will suffer. The PAP Government (and LKY in particular) doesn’t seem to care about that. They are only interested in nice-looking statistics and eye-popping wealth.

Many governments in the world also strive to be good in what they do. But it seems that the PAP Government is uniquely and incomparably obsessed with the pursuit of excellence – to the point where the people’s interests have been disregarded. Yet, in this obsessive and relentless pursuit of excellence, the PAP Ministers must ask themselves whether we have truly arrived at the stage of excellence. Or have we sacrificed heart, body and soul for nothing. The accummulation of wealth and more wealth (especially for the benefit of a small number of individuals) is definitely not an indication that we are a society of excellence.

There are many countries where the citizens comes first, where foreign immigration is controlled and restricted and where there is wealth accummulation – yet there is still so much creativity and innovation. And the welfare of the citizens still take pole position.

New Zealand is a good example. In terms of creativity and innovation, New Zealand definitely beats Singapore hands down – movie-making is just one of those areas where New Zealand excels in. New Zealand’s foreign immigration is controlled and restricted – only those foreigners who can truly contribute to the growth of the country are allowed to live in New Zealand – and they have to satisfy the stringent requirements of a transparent immigration policy. New Zealand’s welfare system is still very much a plus factor. There’s free medical care and free education for New Zealand citizens and PRs. In a country more well-known for its agricultural and tourism industries, there are rich folks who own huge tracts of land as well as many overseas investments. Yet, poverty is absent in New Zealand. New Zealand’s current Prime Minister, John Key, is a millionaire in his own right – but he accummulated his wealth as an investment banker before he came into politics. In his present job, he earns just a fraction of what PM Lee earns – yet, he has a much tougher job than PM Lee. In a truly democratic country like New Zealand, politicians have a really hard time but are not well-paid – yet they strive to work hard for their voters.

So, if countries such as New Zealand can succeed in the pursuit of excellence at a humane pace and without relying on foreign talent, why can’t Singapore do so too? The only answer that I can think of is that the PAP Government wants Singapore to be No. 1 at double-quick or even triple-quick time. It is only interested in quick-fix solutions – regardless of the cost to the people and the sacrifices that the people have to make.

We are truly a people to be pitied.

60% will repent for the next 5 years. Opposition can tap on PAP betrayal once again for the next GE. A 10% vote swing is all we need to change a government.

There's often a misconception that NZ is some sort of Utopia. Reality paints a different picture. NZ suffers from most of the problems that Singapore does. The only advantage it has is that it's far less congested.

Our hungry kids: 40,000 NZ kids fed by charities

School principals say the number of pupils turning up for breakfast is increasing daily, despite the collapse of one of the two main breakfast programmes, a Red Cross scheme which ended this month after Countdown supermarkets withdrew their sponsorship.

A Herald investigation has found that at least 185 of New Zealand's 256 primary and intermediate schools in the poorest 10th of the nation (decile 1) give their children breakfast or other food during the day, on top of the Government's fruit in schools scheme.

Kickstart, a breakfast programme sponsored by Fonterra and Sanitarium, expects to feed 18,400 children a week in 484 decile 1 to 4 schools after it takes over 47 of the 63 former Red Cross schools next week.

KidsCan, a charity partly funded by the Government, supplies muesli bars, fruit pots and other food to 20,000 children a week in 189 schools.
Other programmes are run by churches, community groups, Hubbard Foods and businesses such as Auckland bakery Abe's Bagels, which supplies 27 schools.

This means the total number of children being fed each week is almost certainly more than 40,000 - nearly a fifth of the 229,400 children in decile 1 to 4 schools.

KidsCan is running an appeal for people to sponsor one of the 20,000 children on its waiting list for $15 a month. So far 850 sponsors have signed up.
But in a report being issued today, the Child Poverty Action Group calls on the Government to work with charities, businesses and community groups to underwrite breakfast programmes in all 463 decile 1 and 2 primary and intermediate schools. "It is time to deal directly with childhood hunger," it says.
Manurewa Intermediate principal Iain Taylor said the problem had become so bad that children were stealing food from the school's marae where the breakfast club was held.

"It's definitely got worse this year, without a doubt. The poverty is really obvious," he said. The number of New Zealand children going hungry has not been measured directly since 2002, when a Ministry of Health survey found that 83,000 children, or 17 per cent of those aged 5 to 14, sometimes or often went to school without breakfast.

That was partly because some children did not want to eat breakfast or came from families in which breakfast was not part of the culture.
But some families also clearly could not afford to feed their children every morning. A third of children from the poorest fifth of areas at least sometimes went without breakfast.

Almost half (45 per cent) of families with children in the poorest fifth of areas sometimes or often ran out of food because of a lack of money, and 20 per cent of families in the poorest fifth had used foodbanks or received food grants in the year before the survey. KidsCan founder Julie Helson said demand for her programme was growing, mainly because of the rising cost of living.

Food prices rose 7 per cent in the year to June, but the average hourly wage rose only 2.6 per cent in the year to March. "We have people surviving on $80 a week and having to make choices whether they treat their child's nits or buy food," Ms Helson said.

No country in the world is UTOPIA and their politicians do not paint it as such either, the only exception being the PAP who always claim that SINGAPORE is #01 and every other country has to learn from them.

However, in 1st world SINGAPORE; one finds the handicap having to peddle their 3 tissue packs for $$$ or busk for$$ at the NOVENA, Orchard underpass etc or Senior citizens collecting money at public toilets, collecting aluminium cans/cardboard boxes while the PAP's GLC squanders billions of $$$ is investment losses without batting an eyelash.

How a govt 'looks after' or rather neglects the least fortunate citizens is very reflective of an UNCARING, SELFISH and elitist govt that all the gleaming sky-scrapers in the CBD would fail to impress or inspire anyone, a city of MAN-MADE marvel no doubt but WITHOUT a SOUL!

I foresaw all this hanky-panky things that have going on with pro-Pap and PAP regime. They are NOT going to repent BUT to strengthen them by suggesting MORE FTs.

If you are still thinking the bloody ballot boxes, then you are WRONG and STUPID. I've the Wu Zi Xu for how long already ? I've never lost, I seldom predict wrongly.

Basic need is a must like food, shelters, power, water, etc. Tertiary education is NOT a must. When was the last time you use a Laplace Transforms ?
