Problem with such a law, is the potential for abuse leading to permanent damage (as opposed to non-Sharia/Syariah laws that call for incarceration). For instance, a jealous ex-girlfriend with connections sets up the ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend accusing her of theft, and the (innocent) current girlfriend gets her hands chopped off. Etc.
