"Filial" "soft spoken" "kept to herself" - what do any of these traits have got to do with this?
Those 'shy shy', soft spoken types tend to have the most skeletons in their closet.
They're also the ones most likely to bear grudges, to dig up your little misdeeds and 'settle old scores with you'. Ask them anything wrong, they will just keep quiet and say 'nothing', even though deep down they're unhappy.

This is a saying that for some people if they are gonna take revenge against someone, they do not do it immediately (in a hot tempered way). They take their time and place when he/she does not see it coming, and they are meticulously in preparation, and then they initiate revenge. (It could be weeks or even months or years later.) That way the person would not know where and from whom it came from -- Hence, "The plate of revenge is best served cold." Don't serve the plate of revenge hot.
When will the media stop this wayang? We all know Palmer was forced to resign and not volunteer to resign. Why it's zooming onto Laura and Cindy to point fingers and then tell everyone to give Dianne and Michael their privacy?
To be more specific in corporate terms, it's "ask to go amicably." Hokkien call it "Ho Lai Ho Kee" aka good come good go.
