Breakin'-flood again, but u know sinkapore is not flood free right!

I walked past Kampung Java Canal around 1245h just before the rain started. The water level was very low. At 1315h, I went out to the canal and saw that the canal was almost full! In other words, it took less than half an hour for the water to rise almost three metres.

I don't know if the Marina Barrage is the problem but I know this was never the case in the previous 20 years I've been in this area. And today's rain was not even spectacularly heavy.
This post belongs in the "Ministers' Responses To Floods" thread.
The thread has extended beyond ministars, so don't worry that you are not one..................yet.

Isn't that unsafe for pedestrians? Are there schools nearby?

KK Hospital and TTS Hospital are nearby. I think that Cambridge Pri. Sch. and Christchurch Kindergarten are still there if they haven't moved elsewhere.

It would be. And yet, there were no announcements to keep children off the streets. This shows how much the PAPzis care about us, and our children.

Hi HTOLAS

I notice that the swimming pool at Farrer is still there but usually empty. Is it still open to the public or is it some kind of private club:confused:

Ang Peng Siong leased the place and is running a swimming school there. It is called APS School (Asia Pacific Swimming).

It is usually not much used during office hours but is packed in the evenings and on weekends.

The quality of instruction and organization is good.

The public can also buy packages to swim there but they are not cheap and meant for serious swimmers, i.e. swimming laps, etc. I've also seen a synchronized swimming team practising there with a tigress of a coach.
