An 11-year-old boy was in and out of hospital over more than two weeks - all because he leaned on a sink.

Muhammad Shafiq Noor Hasrin, a Primary 5 pupil at East View Primary School, fell on shards of porcelain after part of the sink gave way and shattered while he was brushing his teeth.

The incident happened at his grandmother's flat on Sept 2, three days after Hari Raya. He was finally discharged from hospital on Monday.

Muhammad Shafiq fell in a sitting position, and a shard of porcelain gouged a deep hole in his lower back. 'I could feel my skin hanging out... and I was very scared when I saw the blood. It was very painful,' he told The Straits Times at his home in Tampines last night.

Brushing teeth is now a dangerous activity. Requires adult supervision.

Cheers!
