I too was surprised by her comments.

This stupid cow is so out of touch with reality that she don't realise that some people are hard done in by her party, the PAP. They are just like me, if a PAP MP came knocking on my door, I will tell them to fuck off. It may surprised her, but a lot of people actually hate the PAP and all associated with it. If she thinks these people are tiresome, maybe she should ask them what the PAP did to them, and think about whether they are really tiresome or not. I know many people that will grovel if an MP comes calling, I guess she is just use to this ass kissing. So, it comes as a surprise when some people actually don't bother to greet her or slam the door in her face.

Well, "standards" are based on a relative scale, aren't they? The operative terms in my statement are "one of the (few) PAP MPs", meaning, she is impressive compared to the rest of them. For sure, I am aware that speaking for your constituents is the most basic role of an MP. But how many of her colleagues actually do? In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man (or woman) rules. If I were to compare her with MPs from, say UK, I probably wouldn't be so impressed. So yes, you are right, my standards are "low" because I don't have anything better to base them on. At least not from the PAP in Singapore.

Unfortunately, there is not enough people who will do that, PAP lovers outnumber PAP haters.. the PAP is soo lucky to rule singapore. Look at the Presidential election where all can vote, majority still support PAP, anti PAP votes is only 25% whereas hard core PAP votes are 35%. PAP supporters are still in the majority

She's no stupid cow. Neither is she a lazy and greedy cow. Otherwise, she'd just act blur and don't have to go through all that fustration. Just one of the best among the PAPs. It's also true like you said, some people are so pissed with PAP that the moment they heard that it's someone from PAP, regardless who, they shut the door.

It's a case of guilty by association! I have seen her industry and patience with old folks first hand. My old uncle lives in her constituency. She came across as sincere and genuine. Like I've said before, it's a pity she is from PAP! She doesn't need to put on airs at all.

Ten years ago no body would have faulted Tony Tan because he presented such a wise wholesome figure....now we all knew the shit in his cupboard...same for this Lily Neo.

She represent the PAP soft side or rather what PAP wants you to think,...soft,cultured,sophisticated,motherly ,caring and etc...but in reality she is no different from other PAP shit carriers.

She is a Medan Chinese.Ask any Indonesian Chinese and they will tell you about the convincingly cunning nature of the upper crust of Medan Chinese.Sweet talking in their second nature.I also understand her family is big time business league....I mean really really big as some one who visited her house was stunt by ostentatious and outlandish richness.....for heaven sake don't judge the book by its cover.

See, I don't understand your reasoning. U HAVE to compare her with the MPs of the world. Why? Because that is how they are comparing themselves. They day they are the best in the world, and justify that with the high salaries. U have already seen Irene Ng compare herself with UK MPs, at least in term of their salaries. Therefore, the standard of measure has to be a worldwide standard. And in this regard, she is far from impressive.

U are absolutely right. The PAP plays good cop bad cop all the time. Simpletons fall for that. When u are an MP, they have already made sure that u are 100% die hard PAP porlumpar. Otherwise, u will never smell it.

There is no pity here. She chose to be with the PAP. She could have joined another party and ran against the PAP in the same constituency, but she did not. If she is as popular as u saying, she could have still won regardless of the party that she is with.

I get your point, but I don't see why I "HAVE TO" do anything. I've mentioned what my criteria is; you are free to disagree with it. It doesn't matter to me what Irene Ng says, or who she wants to compare herself to, because Irene Ng is an individual - she doesn't represent everyone in the PAP. Does she make vapid, senseless, politically-incorrect and poorly-conceived remarks that make the PAP look very bad? Yes, yes and yes. But does what she say reflect the thoughts of every single person in the PAP? I'm not sure it does. Ergo, I don't know if I see the logic in comparing Lily Neo's performance to UK MPs' just because Irene Ng compares her salary to UK MPs'. There is no mythical "they" that represents the PAP, just like there is no mythical "Opposition" that represents all opposition parties in Singapore. Regret if that's not sensible enough by your standards.

If I read the posts of some forummers here, and that is a microcosm of the larger life in Singapore, I too would use the word on these people. We used the word on even our forgetful aged parents, our disobedient kids or inconsiderate friends when they became exasperating, so it is def not a compliment but not altogether that bad a word really. After all, Lily was writing in her FB. I mean it is open but nevertheless still her "diary". Just because she is an MP, cannot call you buggers 'tiresome' meh? Must you scold her back with bad words on her mother?
