Wow this thread is interesting. Drifter, you are a regular wildlife expert!!! I have been interested in having a pet for awhile now. Life in SG getting too stressful and getting jaded with cheonging... I want to start with something hardy that wouldn't die on me. Was thinking of goldfish or tortoise but you seem to have opened a whole new realm of possibilities. What would you recommend if I want something slightly more exotic? I am ultra-beginner level and snakes are out hehehe!!!

bro i believe you also good at what you are doing , as you know breeding and trading wildlife is my rice bowl for years ....snakes are sometimes call " lazy man pets " . cause they only eat twice a month and shit once a month . tarantulus are also easy to maintain ..eat every 3 days . depends on which pet you like ...i can give you more infor on that species . bro , tortoises also got exotics ...but they are very difficult to breed in captivity ...cheers

To tell you the truth i'm not surprised that AVA is so ignorant and bo chup. The entire sg is actually like this. SG is based more on reputation rather than actual expertise. Right at the very top do you think our mini stars and the president etc for eg even deserve their very high pay cos of their explemary work?

I saw some at the docserpent site and they look awesome. Am interested in tortoise for a start. The star tortoise looks cute ( is this the one which they say is for good luck? Jing Qian Qui? Golden Coin tortoise? I dun want to get the red ear slider turtle, that one everyone have hahaha! Not looking to breed yet... Beginner must learn to crawl before walking

bro, i dont know about those luck thing ... . star tortoise is a land tortoise ...they are vegetarian but you must get calcium power to put inside their food to make their shell stronger . get from malaysia ..very cheap sin$20-$30 . bro dont look down on red ear slider ...you can sell sin$500 in aus . they are banned in aus .

If i had a chance to breed i would probably breed a reptile or amphibian cos these are cold blooded and don't need much food to survive and you don't have to play with them like a dog for eg.

If you're breeding this for money i wonder how to find their eggs and all that? Perhaps i can help someone to breed something in return for some monetary gain.

bro..singapore is a best pace to breed reptiles ...all year summer . unlike japan i have to fit heater :( . you mean finding egg in the wild or finding egg in your collection tanks ? if in your collection tanks its easy ...just make them a nest box ..they will lay their eggs inside the box .

AVA has been told by Govt not to waste time as it is not a priority for this country. They only act when someone complains. US laws are strict on importing and exporting but you can keep any exotic animals thus the huge demand. The US has been repeatedly told to legislate keeping exotic animals but nothing has been done. So why should other countries bother when the trade is fueld by the US.

This is very similar to guidelines given to customs not waste time with containers from Indonesia stuffed with rags and it keep going to and fro to claim export credit by Indonesians. As long as they pay port charges we should not be bothered.

if you read at my post carefully ,you will know that im trying to said that singapore is a interchange for wildlife trade . if AVA IS NOT DUMB , i dont know what you call it . every shipment landed in singapore theres always afew cartons left behind for singapore market . US wildlife less restrictions ? you must be joking . their wildlife department law are stronger then singapore . they can go international to track down illegal animals traders . if i were to give AVA certain species of reptiles and animals they would not able to tell what species ...AVA have to take photo and send to the states for confirmation . if you keep saying they cant be bother why in the first place banned exotic pets in singapore ? its like telling everyone i cant be bother yet you cannot do ....it does not make any sense . do you know that under america wildlife law theres CITES 1 and CITES 2 , Appendix I , Appendix 2 ...many reptiles and animals are under that CAT which are not allowed tokeep as pets ...unlike singapore all reptiles are banned just like chewing gum . AVA are just lazy ...cover the fuckin animals law with a big blanket ..easy for them to control . so, tell me ..if they banned pitbull in singapore why can i import through AVA ...using just black and white ...did they check ? no they didnt ..cause they are lazy and dont have the knowledge to tell the different between a boxer puppies , lab puppies and a pitbull puppies .
