The 120mm mortar is the largest mortar that can be "carried" by a team of 3.
I don't know what the men of arty are doing these days, but in the past the SAF expected the NS guys to push a gun carriage & carry the mortar. You had men carrying the mortar on these long route marches which lasted for days.
Unsurprisingly many of them ended up with back injuries.

there were many accidents in the past, especially when people did not sleep enough..to set up the mortar (we called it "throw mortar"), you need to dig a hole and then in one quick action swing the mortar plate into the hole plus plant the bipod onto the ground... some men even plant the bipod into their own feet..

As far as I know, no Israeli unit ever went on a freakin' route March with a 120mm mortar barrel.

afair, nobody ever did standard route march with 120mm on mountain tracks...

route march is an infantry training

btw... for most of us, fbo route march is a stroll in the park.. because we were so used to the weights on our body..
