I have witnessed it first hand at several workplaces where junior ranked staff drove more expensive cars than their bosses. None of those superiors liked it.
Prime example in Mediacorpse. Small time Z-list DJ driving the most expensive car.
987FM DJ Germaine Tan's Lamborghini 'most expensive car in the Mediacorp carpark’, reportedly costs over S$1.1 mil without COE
Mediacorp 987FM DJ Germaine Tan has been crowned the owner of the priciest set of wheels in the Mediacorp carpark.
Her fellow Class 95 DJs The Muttons, Justin Ang and Vernon Anthonisz, revealed this during the debut
episode of their new segment, "Booty Call".
It's a series in which guests are interviewed while seated in the boot of their own cars.
Tan was their first guest, fielding questions from the duo while perched in the back of her Lamborghini Urus.
Tan previously drove a S$500,000 Tesla Model X, a car she told online entertainment news outlet
8days was paid for by her father.
She has since parted ways with it in favour of the sleek super SUV.
According to
The Business Times, the Lamborghini Urus SE costs S$1,150,000 without Certificate of Entitlement.
"Is a kid driving a Lambo?"
In the video, Anthonisz jokingly asked Tan whether people judged her for driving the Lamborghini Urus, especially given her petite frame.
"Some more you're so small, so people can barely see you," he quipped. "They're like, is a kid driving a Lambo? Do people do that?"
Tan laughed it off, joking that passersby were probably wondering whether to call the police.
She then went on to describe her car as "inconspicuous", and was met with immediate scepticism from both hosts.
"What do you mean?" Ang asked.
"It makes a lot of noise," Anthonisz pointed out, before gently telling Tan: "It's not inconspicuous, my dear."
Most expensive car in Mediacorp
Ang then proceeded to claim: "I think you have the title of owning the most expensive car in Mediacorp."
Tan attempted to push back, recalling a Ferrari she had once spotted in the carpark, but the hosts joked that someone had likely taken it for a test drive and temporarily parked it there.
Yes 933 DJ Hazelle Teo also took to the comments to confirm the claim.
"Her car is DEFINITELY the most expensive car in Mediacorp’s car park," she wrote.
"Sometimes when I send my guests off, I make it a point to show them G’s car."

When asked how she felt, Tan said: "Sometimes when I park and if I see any bosses around, I will stay in my car until they leave."
"Just so you don't walk past them and your face says 'haha BMW'," Ang joked, to which Tan quickly went "Eh don't!"
Background
Tan first made her mark in
Mediacorp as a part-time presenter on "Muttons In The Morning", where she was affectionately known as Baby G.
She has since grown into a full-time producer-presenter and DJ on 987FM, and currently co-hosts The Down Low alongside Avery Yeo, on weeknights from 8pm to midnight.
