One accoount to receive payment, the other to make payment, for convenient, OCBC or UOB.

account in 1 bank for wife. another account in another bank for mistress #1. another account in another bank for concubine #69.

Citibank got very short lines. They now have branches in many of the major MRT stations.
Their atm network has improved alot.

Good bank to have an account if you want to open other Citibank accounts in other countries.

Maybank still provides seats for those waiting. This is a plus for a greying population:) POSB experimented with this concept years ago but decided to let it's customers stand:)

applying for IPOs, rights issues etc. DBS/POSB may not be the participating bank.

One good thing for banks with fewer customers is you don't need to line up and wait for so long. I remember one stomp article where ppl were stuck with a bunch of smelly kelings at some posb place. That was hell.

Just use ebanking lor, queue for what..

Anyway I'm intending to open another account with Maybank or CIMB for their attractive FD rates. Their credit cards are also subscription free for life.

ah ba there are many other reasons to queue up at the bank other than checking amounts in your bank a/c or updating pass book etc.

In any case i have i banking.

Another good thing about bank with fewer customer is once hear any wind blow grass move about bank closing down, want to withdraw also no need queue :D

Whenever I pass a DBS/POSB branch I shake my head, because I see the looonngg queues.
I can see why people would queue at their favourite food stall, but not at a bank.

I'm actually happy everyone is queuing at DBS/POSB because it means shorter queues at Citi , Maybank, etc
One saves alot of time at these banks & time is very precious as you get older :)

Avoid POSB and DBS lah, cheebye the queue so long and all FTs opening their account to save their money there. POSB/DBS/MOM, kanina in cahoots to make them open account compulsory.

I have a savings account with POSB (cuz interest was higher & no minimum sum) and I have a checking account with DBS for my everyday use..like pay bills, ATM, etc. I have to agree though, the queues are damn long!

POSB /DBS easily the most fuck up bank in Singapore. Suka suka can break down, suka suka can impose 50 dollar withdraw with excuse of better customer service.

Their ATMs have the longest queue and non-interchangeable. You cannot withdraw from other ATMs.

Get a Citibank / Standchart account better.

I've got an account with Maybank Malaysia & they have several savings rates you can choose from. One of the highest available are those with an online trading account. I will wait when the rate reaches 2.45+ before topping up the account to get the best exchange rate. The rates local banks provide are really a joke:(

However whenever I've got funds in my Malaysian account, I've used it to buy more Malaysian shares:) I like the dividens I'm getting.

bank deposits per customer guaranteed up to 50k per bank.
https://www.sdic.org.sg/

the advantage only applies to 9% of the population who have more than 50k in deposits.

the other 91% peasants need not worry over their peanuts.

"After careful consideration, we have decided to proceed with the proposals to expand the scope of coverage to insure deposits of other non-bank depositors such as sole proprietorships and partnerships, and to raise the DI coverage limit from S$20,000 to S$50,000 per depositor per Scheme member. With these changes, 91% of depositors under the Scheme will be fully insured." - MAS
