Malaysian tour guide died rescuing Singapore tourist in Pahang

NOVEMBER 06, 2013
A Malaysian tour guide died last Saturday while trying to rescue a Singaporean tourist under his care.

42-year-old Kevin Tan Chew, from Petaling Jaya, jumped into a 4-metre deep pool at the foot of a waterfall at the Lata Hammer recreation centre in Bentong, Pahang, after the Singaporean got into difficulties and found struggling in the water.

The 35-year-old Singaporean was eventually rescued. He was part of a group of ten Singaporean tourists under Tan.

Tan's body was found after a search operation lasting about two hours. - November 6, 2013.

Singaporeans should not over-estimate themselves.... they think they can swim in dangerous places, drive in AUSTRALIA or USA overnight thru unfamiliar conditions etc.....

Overconfidence caused by too much propaganda in our press about our own abilities?
