<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"-->A FORMER police officer who allegedly accepted two bribes from a gambling operator was charged in court on Wednesday.
Former staff sergeant Lim Kay Heng, 37, is accused of accepting a $2,000 bribe from Mr Chua Chin Hoe in return for helping him in police-related matters as and when necessary.
The alleged offence took place at a coffeeshop at Lorong 27A, Geylang in December 2005.
He is also said to have accepted a bribe in the form of entertainment from Mr Chua at Chuang Shi Ji KTV opposite Apollo Hotel in April the following year.
Lim was an investigation officer and a detective with the Criminal Investigation Department's Secret Societies Branch. He quit in February 2007.
He will return to court on Nov 5 for a pre-trial conference.
If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $100,000 and/or a jail term of up to five years on each charge.

He should be paid more..... around a million a year would be about right. That'll remove the need to take bribes.

Yes! He must be compensated for the sacrifices of public duty. Going to KTV 3-4 times a week is very taxing!

soon they will have a separate room in changi prison for poodle offenders..
