"It's because we have been drawing talent from across the globe - South Asia, Northeast Asia, China, India and beyond that - you have a vibrant economy which is way beyond what three million Singaporeans with the talent they can produce can do."

Ha ha......................!
2 hour?? I cant believe such stupid and useless bus driver and the bus company.

SINGAPORE: More than 10 passengers including a Channel NewsAsia reporter were trapped for more than two hours inside an SBS bus that had strayed from its usual route.

Apparently following instructions from the control centre, the bus had diverted to avoid traffic congestion at the Pan-Island Expressway but ended up being lost instead.

The bus, service No.52, was heading from Jurong to Bishan when it met with heavy traffic on 3 November around noon.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the driver was instructed by the bus control station to travel along Dunearn Road instead of using the expressway.

Although passengers tried to guide the driver on the unfamiliar route, the driver declined and chose to follow instructions from the control station.

Bus operator SBS Transit has since apologised and said it is investigating the matter.

I cannot believe the passenger did not even kick a ruckus for the 2 hour drive. In most cases, tempers would have flare by the passenger with such incompetence.

No, rather, the fatcats of the public transport companies want cheap labour, so that they can profit more.
The savings from hiring cheap drivers and not training them properly will never translate into lower fares for everyone.
On the contrary, the fare hikes will keep on coming. With the full blessings of the PTC, of course.

if i am on bus, i will ask the passenger where they want to go and form a taxi pool, get out and share taxi. screw sbs.

will the passengers' ez-link cards be overcharged since the fares are calculated based on distance?! :S

Hoho..so these FTs are not so talented after all!

The driver should be sacked and the bus company fined $200,000 for non-delivery of service and inconveniencing the passengers. The passenegers can file a class action suit and claim losses.

The govt should disallow bus companies from employing any more Ah Tiongs as drivers.
