SINGAPORE: More than 10 passengers including a Channel NewsAsia reporter were trapped for more than two hours inside an SBS bus that had strayed from its usual route.
Apparently following instructions from the control centre, the bus had diverted to avoid traffic congestion at the Pan-Island Expressway but ended up being lost instead.
The bus, service No.52, was heading from Jurong to Bishan when it met with heavy traffic on 3 November around noon.
Channel NewsAsia understands that the driver was instructed by the bus control station to travel along Dunearn Road instead of using the expressway.
Although passengers tried to guide the driver on the unfamiliar route, the driver declined and chose to follow instructions from the control station.
Bus operator SBS Transit has since apologised and said it is investigating the matter.
