I don't quite get this sort of new age everything must have diversity and inclusive and make sure it is "balanced" concept peddled by so called progressives. Every company has its selling point and marketing strategy, SIA for better or worse chose the SQ girl as its mascot. The SQ girl is portrayed as someone with warm hospitality, sophistication and sincerity which appeals to travelers of any sex.

How would showing a businesswoman working on spreadsheets help to convey this message? In fact a real accomplished businesswoman probably doesn't even have time for this crap of analyzing whether there are any male stewards or if the spreadsheet person is male or female.

I guess it’s a natural progress as people evolved. It’s a good thing to grow this kind of awareness of diversity. If not sexist thinking will actually permeate a company culture and is a bad thing in the long run.

Awareness is one thing, but everything has to be done in moderation and grounded in common sense. This so called correcting sexist company culture and generating awareness meme has been hijacked by consultants, progressives and HR who are eager to profit or stay in the job from it that everyone is beginning to push for a perception of "balanced" outcomes with no regard for whether the thing makes sense.

Take this SIA ad for instance, it has a clear purpose which is to position its service in a manner that its customers can relate to from the SQ girl. Why should they be forcing shots of businesswomen on spreadsheets into the ad just so that they can say ladies can be executives as well? It serves no purpose other than to ensure the SQ girl is "countered" by a hard nosed female senior executive.

Next time we see a cosmetic ad that features feminine K-pop style guys & girls should we then be introducing macho/uncouth men as well as butch like girls to ensure there there is awareness on diversity?
