A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to four months and three weeks' jail after slashing his girlfriend's male friend with a Swiss Army knife outside a bar at CityLink Mall.
The court heard that the incident happened on March 15, 2025, after the man discovered his girlfriend was drinking with two male friends. He confronted the two men outside the bar and became enraged after one of them said the woman had introduced herself as single and that they were only meeting as friends.
The man then took out a Swiss Army knife and slashed the 41-year-old victim, who suffered cuts to both hands while trying to block the attack. Medical reports showed the victim sustained lacerations on both hands and numbness in one finger.
After the incident, the man discarded the knife while driving to his girlfriend's hotel. He later asked her to pack her belongings, saying he wanted to take her to Genting in Malaysia. He was arrested at the Woodlands Checkpoint before leaving Singapore.
The man pleaded guilty to one charge of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
