Man arrested for alleged murder of woman in Sengkang condo; residents heard commotion before death
SINGAPORE - A 48-year-old man will be charged on Saturday (Jan 4) for the alleged murder of a 43-year-old woman in a Sengkang condominium on Friday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that they were known to each other, said the police.
Several residents said they witnessed what happened and added that the man also threw a dog from the balcony of the couple's third-floor unit.
Police received a call for help at 12.07pm at 125 Compassvale Bow, the address of the Esparina Residences condominium.
When they arrived, the woman was found unresponsive in the unit and was later pronounced dead by paramedics.
Residents told The Straits Times that the couple lived in a third-floor unit and were often seen walking around holding hands.
The man is Caucasian while the woman is believed to be from the Philippines, said residents.
The couple were seen sitting and talking at their balcony on Friday morning.
At about 11am, an argument broke out, said a maid who lives in an opposite block, adding that the commotion lasted more than 15 minutes.
Alarmed by what she saw, the maid told her employer, who contacted the condo's security officers. They were later seen approaching the couple's unit.
Other residents also saw what happened, including one who lives in a 15th-floor unit facing the couple's block.
The commotion appeared to die down after a while, then a dog was heard barking.
The man appeared again on the balcony, this time carrying a dog.
A female resident said she saw the man throw the dog over the balcony on to the pavement on the ground floor.
Another resident showed ST a photo of the small, white dog lying in a pool of blood. Several residents said the dog had died.
They added that the couple had been living in the condominium for several years and that a child would occasionally stay with them.
Police investigations are underway.

迈入2020年的第三天，盛港就传出发生命案。昨日中午12时左右，万国地铁站附近的盛港康埔桦虹（Compassvale Bow）爱士百乐之居（Esparina Residence）执行共管公寓的一间三楼单位，惊传洋人丈夫杀死妻子后被捕的消息。
涉嫌杀人的洋汉，是48岁的澳大利亚籍男子保罗·科尔克（Paul Leslie Quirk），43岁的死者邱玉华（音译）是他的妻子。警方接获通知抵达现场时，死者已倒卧在公寓单位的睡房内，救援人员当场宣告她死亡。
据本报了解，拨电报警的是一名不愿具名的女居民，她事发前听到有人大喊救命，循着声音望向对面，发现对面座3楼单位的阳台上，一名洋汉正在猛挥褐色长棍殴打妻子。“妻子不断叫‘救命’，之后挣脱跑回客厅，丈夫也追了进去。我感觉情况不妙，因此赶紧报警。”
根据该邻居的绘述，洋汉不断用长棍猛打妻子的脸和上半身，行径残酷。该邻居说，嫌凶向来彬彬有礼，但这一阵子行为开始有点不对劲。
消息传出后震惊邻里，居民交头接耳，议论纷纷间传出洋汉近来行为有点怪异，甚至怀疑妻子被邪魔上身。有居民因此猜测，洋汉攻击妻子的行为，很可能是为了驱赶妻子体内的“邪魔”，最终才不幸酿成命案的。
事发单位的阳台面向其他公寓单位，嫌凶在众目睽睽下伤害妻子，一阵阵的喊叫声都被邻居听见。死者从阳台逃到客厅，过后再跑进睡房的一幕，也被邻居看在眼里，整个行凶过程长达10分钟左右。
居民再次看到嫌凶时，单位里已经毫无动静。嫌凶肩膀扛着沾满鲜血的白色贵宾犬，走出阳台，把狗从三楼的阳台抛下。

死者两度挣脱，被丈夫从阳台追进客厅，再追到房间里，但最终还是逃不过被杀的厄运。
最先报警的邻居说：“当时看到嫌凶正在阳台殴打妻子。妻子不断求助，之后挣脱跑回客厅，嫌凶又追了进去。”
邻居说，追进客厅后，嫌凶还继续殴打妻子，从单位内可以看到事发单位的姗姗说：“妻子跑进屋后，被嫌凶压在沙发上，掐住她的脖子，不断挥拳殴打。”
据她描述，当时嫌凶像着了魔似的，不断殴打老婆，边打边用英语喊着“死、死、死！”
死者当时好不容易挣脱，又跑进睡房，结果嫌凶也跟了进去，虽然窗口当时关着，但她看到有东西在不断撞击窗口，相信是嫌凶掐着妻子的头撞击玻璃窗。

根据当时邻居拍摄的视频，画面显示是嫌凶事发后将狗丢下楼，白狗浑身是血，身上明显有一挫伤，血流不止，坠地后就一动也不动，腹部有一处伤口。
一般相信，贵宾犬可能狂吠，为了救女主人而惹怒嫌凶。
