Hi JR, right! Chonburi is a province in Thailand. I am living humbly in Pattaya, also known as "sin city of Asia". Chonburi FC stands for Chonburi Football Club. I am a supporter of this club for the last one year. If you have the opportunity, please come to Pattaya for a holiday!

Pattaya is about 2 hrs from BKK by cab.Cost of living also much cheaper than BKK.Foreigners can buy House/Condo in Pattaya ? What small-capital business is viable in Pattaya ? Khop Khun Kap !

Sawasdeekup

Now shortcut finish already. Bangkok to Pattaya using the Motorway non-stop driving is about 1hr 30mins to 1hr 45mins this leads to the middle of Pattaya. Previously its to north of Pattaya. Yes cost of living is cheaper than Bkk but european mafia yuh-yae. Also phuying darker than Bkk and less pretty. Foreigners can buy non-landed only property in Thailand but must get permit first. Landed no-no byt company can buy with Thai majority share of company meaning >65%. For business I always believe first you need know what you like or what you are good in and then look into viability. Old school la passion is king.

Been here 6 years in Khrungtep.

Glad to know you're Chonburi FC fan. Guess the most famous FC of them all is Buriram, I hate anything Buriram simply because of the snake Newin

I agree what you said about being 2nd-class in Sinkieland thats why 3 years ago I packed up sold every damn thing stuffed into 40 footer and ship them here and fucking sink the boat . . . . it no turning back for me. 6 years, love every single day here. Even my wife who came here on a permanent basis 3 years ago would exclaim this is the best country period. In Sinkieland the fucking PAP owns every part of your life and involve in every damn business here if you have money, not much though, you own the government.

Hahaha,

Bro Joetys, you really the old bird in Thailand if you can quote Newin and Buriram. Actually, I don't get too serious about Thai politics. It's too drama. Better than Channel 3,5 and 7 dramas. Today friends, tomorrow enemies, and the day after, become friends again. No face loss. No shame and no pride. But I tried not to talk about their domestic political stuffs, especially with any Thais, especially drivers. Have a bad experience once I talk about Abhisit being the most handsome minister in Thailand. Will never talk about Thai politics with Thai ever!

Like you, I am enjoying every moment here in Thailand, especially Pattaya. Got many good offer to relocate to Bangkok but remained in Pattaya. :-)

Main reason I left SG is not because I dislike SG but it's just too crowded. I still enjoy SG as a tourist from Thailand but never as a Singaporean.

That's cool. Me too now go back Singapore macham tourist. If back alone bunk in mom's place on floor mattress if with wife will be hotel.

Is it easy to get a long term visa to stay in LOS?
I don't mean the monthly tourist visa which you need to renew by going monthly to somewhere outside LOS e.g. to Cambodia.

This one's job is to do what? Supply ah kuas to pervs that don't like to fuck regular women?

Yes, bro johnny333,

Almost everyone I know is using ED-VISA (Education Visa) to stay long term in Thailand. Even have 70 year old English Ah Gong also doing this as he cannot show he have THB 800,000 to qualify for Retirement VISA . ES-Visa is valid for 12+3 months. Only thing is you need to get a Thai MOE approved school to apply for you. You can easily apply in one of these schools by registering for a Thai Language classes.

Best thing is second year and beyond, you do not need to leave Thailand to apply for the extension. In a nutshell, you can use this educational visa for up to 10 years.

First time I heard of this loophole :)
From what I've read about the retirement VISA you have to renew yearly & whenever you leave LOS you have to apply for a re-entry permit or something like that. Sounded quite troublesome & bureaucratic.

This education thing sounds better. Especially since I've always wanted to learn Thai.
With this education VISA can one leave & enter Thailand anytime? Although I intend to stay in LOS I still have to visit Spore frequently to look after things like my property :(

Where can I find a list of these Thai MOE approved schools? IS there a URL with a list of approved schools or should I visit the Thai consulate?
Any schools in Pattaya? That place has cleaner air than Bangkok & seems like a good place if one can't understand Thai:)

Actually I find LOS more intriguing than Malaysia. There's more to explore in LOS than Malaysia.

JB is the most expensive place in Malaysia & in a few years time it will be crowded with Sporean refugees:)
Being a Sporean in JB has plenty of disadvantages, such as not being able to buy cheaper Malaysian cars to visit Spore. In Malaysia you also need a car to get around.

In LOS you can get around using public transport like the natives. The only real problem is the language:(

Then you have to look for Sammyboy Thai School. Principal Joetys and form teacher Ramseth LOL

Johnny333, recently a group of Malaysian businessmen came visit me some has offices in Bangkok too. While we were eating one of them mentioned Thailand is much safer in terms of crimes compare to Malaysia and particularly Johore, the rest agreed and the whole night they were discussing of the latest crimes in Malaysia. They also mentioned a lot of violent crimes are done by Indonesians.

Hi Johnny,

Actually, all types of VISA requires you to have Re-Entry Permit if you need to re-enter LOS. Only difference is in Single Entry and Multiple Entries Re-entry Permit and of course the fees. (Single Entry - THB 1,000 & Multiple Entries - THB 3,900). I used Single Entry as I do not come back to SG so frequently. The procedure are as follow:
1. Apply for a 180 hour (1 year) Thai/English Language Course at any MOE Approved School (Only MOE approved schools can apply on behalf) - Approval between 1-3 weeks.
2. Once approved, you will need to bring MOE Approved letter and submit for VISA at any Thai Consulate. (For Singaporeans, this can be done at any Thai consulates)
3. ED VISA application take only 1 day to approved. Submit your passport and letters to the Thai Consulate. (For Singaporeans, if you apply at Singapore Thai Consulate, this is free)
4. With this ED VISA, you will be initially get 3 months stay. You can extend this every 3 months for another 4 times, meaning you will stay for 15 months in LOS. Each Extension cost THB 1,900. (You can also opt for 1 year extension for around THB 15,000). I extend every 3 months as I do have a lot of free time. A trip to the immigration bureau in Pattaya from where I stay is 10 mins by motorcycle.
5. For the second year application, you do not even need to exit LOS to apply for ED VISA. The local school can get all the applications done in LOS.
6. With ED-VISA, you can also apply for Driving and Riding License (Highly recommended). The driving and riding license is used here as a form of identification for foreigners.

The Thai Consulate will not have a list of MOE approved schools. You can google for Thailand ED-VISA and there are just too many schools. Can also PM me if you are keen to stay in Pattaya.

Yes, you can survive without Thai in Pattaya as the Thai:Foreigner population ratio is almost 1:1 . The Russians and Mainland Chinese who can't speak a word of Thai and English can survive here. There is also a large population of Koreans. Yes, the traffic and air condition in Bangkok did not attract me though there are more job opportunities in BKK.

What is the fastest broadband speed for home use in Thailand ? and roughly what is the cost per month ?
Thanks.

Hi Spiky,

Broadband performance in Pattaya is not too fantastic. Previously used TOT (2MB/512K) plan at THB 800/mth but now using 3BB (6Mb/512K) plan at THB 600 per month. It's good enough for me to do most of the work, online quotes, online sports odds, surf the net, watch ppstv and youtube. Can be slow at times, intermittent connections or even no connection during heavy rains. Other times, it is reasonably fast. I remembered there was a promotion recently by 3BB for 9MB/10MB broadband at about THB 1,000. 3BB is quite aggressive and their pretties (show promoters) are really pretty and so their service are likely to be over subscribed.

Any bros in TH have any input on the broadband service in TH outside Pattaya?

3G is only limited to certain parts of Thailand, mainly in BKK.
