Like your neighbourhood police. The Hougang Neighbourhood Police Centre, which helps look after most of us in the Paya Lebar division of Aljunied GRC, launched its Facebook page today. Go and "like" the page to get the latest news about police activities in the neighbourhood.

Ustaz Syed Esa Alkaff spoke about the different levels of fasting when I visited the Muslim Converts’ Association of Singapore last month. Yesterday, on the final day of Ramadan, I came a little closer to understanding why my Muslim brethren consider the Ramadan fast a lesson in humility, as I went through a fasting day of my own.
The distractions of hunger and thirst from 5:30am (close to Imsak) until 9:30pm (when we concluded our house visits to residents around Lorong Ah Soo) made it difficult for me to keep to the charitable and the good in my words, deeds and thoughts throughout the day. I caught me losing patience with myself and with others. My own failings and limitations were brought home clearly to me.
