why christians make it such a big deal that it is their 'lords' ' birthday
and singing christmas songs at the shopping centre and hawker

these christians are sleeping
like a sheep,.. or like minions in the movie 'despicable me'
they say since pastor said so, so it must be so

the shrewed business man always take advantage of these man made events
they sell (profited from ) christmas toys, candlelight dinners, special hotels room packages for christmas, christmas tree, tringlets etc

their marketing ploy is "its christmas, give your loved one presents'
or better to give than to recieve

then you spend spend and spend

then later broke and mountain high credit card bills etc

God is great, Dogs are greater; 4 letters against 3, surely greater.

haha, this is already known worldwide.this is common sense now.we all knew about this.just that, in such a stressed world, what can we do beside celebrating festive to release our stress???

haha, be it fake or real, if u are a businessman you will sure take advantage of it.
if u are a teacher, u will teach your students its a day to celebrate gift giving.

if u are a parents, u will use this day to buy gifts for ur children to make them happy.

and also, haha if u got girlfren, u can use this day to ask for one night sleep in a hotel.LOL....

what else???

of course i know christians people like to force people to believe this and that.i dont want to make my comment into another form of bashing.but down inside my heart and those others we all know la.you know i know.
of course every religion got their good and bad.so to make it a balance in my comment.

so, to me when i saw those christians shouting.. hohoho in the orchard road,
i just think to myself, haha .. when they shout hohoho in the streets, those hotel boss must be really shouting HOHOHO sei.. lar.. into their pocket!!!

We know that christians celebrate christmas by remembering Jesus Christ. On the other hand, giving of gifts is a tradition to show gratitude/love/friendship. So the true christians celebrate both ways, the christian and the secular way.

Over the generations "Christian Charity" which is most displayed during year-end season has been transformed into the the Merchandise Event of the Year. Thanks to Capitalism. Did you get your 13th month? And it became fashionable not be Scrooge ~ to help spread the cheer.

Agree that the way Christmas is paraded now has nothing to do with Jesus' birth. After all, the biggest per capita spenders during Christmas have been the Japanese.

However it is not all like that, go to churches the world over and you will see food and comfort being afforded to the less fortunate - volunteered by Christians who remember what their Lord wants of them. And they do carry it the rest of the year, not in those masses, but Christmas time in the northern hemisphere is cold.

Cheers!

Which Christians does not know that Christmas or Dec 25 has to do with the birth of Christ...in which was a pagan festival...for the convinence, Christmas or December 25, all Christians remember Christ our Lord the King...

nor does the christmas tree, the cards, the misetoles the....they were added over the years for the traders to cash in on the season...

Haha! The other official Christmas Day is 7 Dec (eastern orthodox).

25 Dec is winter solstice.
The Christmas Tree was some vogolith (wtf, cant' remember wat they're called) or druid symbol of fertility?.
The mistletoes, why not?, in northern winter, no more green leaves other than pines. Need something to contrast the white snow eh?

BUT, the big BUT - how the heck do we convince Macy's, Bloomingdales, or even Robinson's that fucking Christmas did not take place in winter? And the Santa Claus that has come to be is the fucking Coca-Cola man?

Cheers!

x'mas has been commercialised by the jews (zionists) bcos -
1) they hate christ
2) they love money

im not a christian so im giving an unbiased view on how the businessmen/commercialists who are mostly american jews/zionists (and in recent decades, the singapore political elites also joined in the fun) ... destroyed the real spirit of christmas ...

boycott orchard rd @ christmas, and stay away from the capitalmall type of retail shops the other 365 days of the year - thats one small but effective way to get back @ these greedy commercialists ...

... and beware the american jews (zionists) ...

What has Christmas Day got to do with the birth of Jesus Christ? There's no written record of His birthdate. It probably started as a Scandinavian winter solstice festival, the week at the end of the year when they celebrated the end of year whilst looking forward to the new year. The Christmas tree is symbolic to survival in harsh winter. It's from Scandinavia, not Middle East where Jesus was born. With the near complete conversion of Europe to Christianity from Rome in the south to Scandinavia in the north, it was most probable that a Roman emperor decreed Christmas as a Christian festival. With Constantinople (now Istanbul) as European gateway to Middle East, the story gradually got cooked and spiced up to become Jesus' birthday.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Then you tell me what the fark the cross got to do with Christianity ?

Are you sure that you need anyone to tell you that symbolises the crucifix that Jesus was crucified on?

Yes and why do Christians celebrate the crucifix
by wearing around their necks ?

As fashion jewellery perhaps.

Anyway there's no requirement to do so, up to individual. Christianity advocates no idolatry of images or objects. The sign of the cross started with cathedral buildings, to mark its roof as that of a cathedral, which during medieval times, cathedrals were landmarks for directions. Then priests started wearing crosses as part of their cassocks.

Religiously, it serves as a reminder that Jesus died on the crucifix and the wearer believes He died for us. However, it gradually become fashion jewellery. Christianity has no copyright on the cross design.

No bona fide Christians wear that on them...

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Exodus 20: 2-17

25 Dec isn't even JC's birthday. As usual, it's us atheists who know more about christianity than christians

Another ridiculously unbiblical but accepted practice is portraiting Jesus in painting or in sculpture as blond and blue-eyed. Catholic and Methodist still practise that. Once again, characteristics of Scandinavian origins and later popularised by British and American cultural adoption and adaptation. By all commonsense, Jesus was born in the Middle East should look more like Osama bin Laden rather than Bjorn Ulvaeus (ABBA) or Barry Gibb (Bee Gees).
