Indians, or Ah Neh (if you prefer) were the earliest civilization on this planet, and they settled down into huge cities and enjoyed goat curry while other races were stilll foraging the bush or hunting wooly mammoth or wild pigs. They (Ah Nehs) are wise and were ahead in all areas of earthly things (like medicine, philosophy, mathematics, music, poetry, dance) that are part of modern living. Only mistake they made was they viewed the cow as a god. This costly mistake is what has ruined their civilization and made them a laughing stock of the world that has grown to love McDonald's beefburgers, and coca-cola. In view of their historical record, Buddhism, an offshoot of Hinduism is relevant in today's spirituality, where our thoughts are directed by economics and material well-being. Buddhist ideals should not be viewed as being "poor" but rather rejection of material wealth. In our modern times, pursuit of material wealth is causing us unnecessary stress mentally and physically. Buddhism is good. Eating beef is also good.
Cheers!
