Advice on Aspirin.

A whole tablet a day is more than sufficient.
There are lower doses available off the shelf.
Cardiprin is pleasant tasting and melts in your mouth.

Aspirin is quite the panacea.
It also reduces risk of cancer.
if you're 40 and above, take low dose a day and keep two tablets with you always.

Many thanks for sharing your personal experience.. Don't why.. Lately I have been having this terrible fear of having a heart attack due to my atrocious lifestyle and heavy work load.. I have been cutting down on my meat intake and eating more vegetables.. Also cutting down on the ciggies and beer..

A Norwegian colleague assigned with me to work in Malaysia told me of his habit of popping an Aspirin before bedtime.. In fact I'm seriously thinking of following his example by having an Aspirin before going to sleep.. Just taking a prevention.. Many healthy young chaps are dropping like flies due to heart problems..
Wish to share another story which I may have posted before. This friend who is mid-60s now was diagnosed with clogged vessels to the heart some 30 years ago and an urgent by-pass was strongly recommended. He went for 2nd and 3rd opinions and all the doc came to the same conclusion.

He decided against operation but instead changed his lifestyle, especially diet. About 10 years ago, his doc retired and his case was assigned to a new young doc. The young doc insisted that he must go for surgery immediately or he may drop dead anytime. Till this moment he is still alive. I learned from him the importance of diet. Happy CNY and all the best.

its like you induced factor 11 deficiency....so be careful if you need surgery.

If it's elective surgery, I simply stop taking aspirin 2 weeks prior. If it's emergency surgery, it's out of my hands anyway so let the dice roll.

either way just advise the medical personnel ......they could give you plasma before the surgery if its elective ....or during the surgery if its emergency...with the proviso that they have plasma stock.

Pardon me for being a mountain tortoise
Can I not extract some of this plasma thing
From my own body in advance
And keep it in moi refrigerator
When Lightning strikes I will send out
Pre-typed message to my niece
Who will fly to hospital
With previous plastic bag

i guess thats possible if you do have a known factor 11 congenital deficiency condition....otherwise i'm not too sure if you can 'reserve ' either blood or plasma for yourself.

Bought a small box of Aspirin at a pharmacy at KLIA before boarding my flight back to S'pore yesterday.. Took 2 tablets during the flight.. Then after evening's Reunion dinner, took another tablet.. This noon at my mom in law's place, I secretly took another tablet.. The pain on my chest, and feeling of breathless gone now.. Don't know whether its my anxiety or really some heart problem.. Bit infuriating thinking about it..

Thanks Boss for your advice.. I'm fearing the worse.. I have all the symptoms of someone with a heart problem.. Sudden breathlessness, fatigue, at times feeling nauseous, irregular chest pains..

Don't know if its my old anxiety disorder creeping up again but since I'm back in Singapore for the CNY, I will see my company doctor one of this days..

Everyone gets old & as one ages one has to be more careful with diet & lifestyle. Plenty of things you can take that is over the counter e.g. multivitamins, pomegranate, Omega3, ..etc.

If you want to take aspirin, just make sure you understand the potential problems. http://www.iherb.com/Life-Extension...&w=life extension aspirin&rc=465&sr=null&ic=1

Thanks alot Uncle Johnny.. I also bought a packet of Rosella Hibiscus Tea from Malaysia.. Many people there told me of its benefits.. http://www.esgreen.com/info/the-health-benefits-of-roselle-or-hibiscus/

Brewed the tea this morning.. The tea tasted sourish but not bitter as I had thought..

If you fear you're at high risk for heart attacks, take a high dose of CoQ10 daily for prevention, and (if you can afford it), go for the reduced alcohol form UBIQUINOL, instead of the more commonly available oxidized ketone form UBIQUINONE. It's significantly more expensive, but also significantly more effective.

And of course, Vitamin D always helps to reduce your chances of all severe diseases (including heart attacks, stroke, etc).

I have been taking one CoQ10 tablet daily for a year or so after reading Johnny333 recommendation in this forum. I think it is not bad in disease prevention, when I feel like going to fall sick I take double and usually feel better after that. My elderly family member takes it too and the doctor said CoQ10 is good.

You're a borderline nut case. If you think your ticker is about to go belly up, go to A & E and tell the admission counter you're having bad chest pains.

You'll be given priority 1 status and within a few hours, you'll know whether you were right or whether it was a false alarm. Either outcome is better than the predicament you're in now.

If you're arteries are stuffed, all these magic potions you're consuming is not going to unclog the arteries in your heart at short notice. I doubt very much that they even work long term. Aspirin thins the blood. It doesn't reduce inflammation of the artery walls are clear fatty deposits. The rest of the stuff you mention is nothing more than snake oil.

To zed i suggest you check it out with a dr rather than just ignore it all because you took some aspirin and the pain is all gone. It's always better to know if you are truly safe with no heart or cholestrol problems.

Just ignore the boss ah sam about going to A & E since it doesn't look like a precursor to a heart attack but probably might be something else that led to chest pains and breathlessness.

If he goes to a GP, the GP will simply pocket the consultancy and send him to a heart specialist. It will be a week or more of anxiety and worry.

A & E will diagnose the issue within hours. A blood test will tell whether a heart attack has occurred. ECG will detect any abnormalities in the heart beat.

ok i suppose he should heed your advice but he said he didn;t feel anymore chest pains after taking asprin while you suggested to him to lie that he had bad chest pains. I think your advice is better yes you will be lying but i think in zed's case a thorough checkup is the best cure.

He doesn't have to lie. All he has to do is describe what he's experiencing.
