Facelift for Potong Pasir... finally

The 28-year wait is over for residents in Potong Pasir.

Their Member of Parliament, Mr Sitoh Yih Pin, said he received approval for upgrading from both the Ministry of National Development (MND) and Housing Board (HDB) “early this week”.

This makes it the first time the former opposition hotbed of Potong Pasir is being upgraded -- should 75 per cent of resident vote “yes”.

Two of the five precincts within the constituency have been shortlisted for improvements. The go-ahead has been given to both, with a $5.5 million Government funding.

But residents The New Paper spoke to had mixed feelings towards the news. Some welcomed the upcoming improvements, while another wanted “improvements to the basic amenities” to be addressed first.

Read the full story in The New Paper on Friday (July 6).

Hopefully, Hougang residents will soon realise how much better life can be if they vote for the PAP.

again, this came thru my mail, naturally it must be originated from some other source a long long time ago, don't ask me from where la because the guy who sent me just dropped it and ran _

A Little girl was standing on the footpath in front of her home next to her was a basket containing a number of tiny creatures; in her hand was a sign announcing FREE KITTENS.
Suddenly a line of big white cars pulled up.
“Hi there little girl, I’m the Prime Minister. What do you have in the basket?” he asked.
“Kittens,” little Suzy said.
“How old are they?” asked PM.
Suzy replied, “They’re so young, their eyes aren’t even open yet.”
“And what kind of kittens are they?”
“PAP supporters,” answered Suzy with a smile.
PM was delighted. As soon as he returned to his car, he called his publicity chief and told him about the little girl and the kittens.
Recognizing the perfect opportunity to fish for votes, the two of them agreed that the Prime Minister should return the next day and in front of the assembled media, have the girl talk about her discerning kittens.
So the next day, Suzy was again standing on the sidewalk with her basket of “FREE KITTENS”,
when another motorcade pulled up, this time followed by vans from Channel 5, Channel 8, Channel News Asia and reporters from SPH Group cameras and audio equipment were quickly set up, then PM got out of his car and walked over to little Suzy.
“Hello, again,” PM said, “I’d love it if you would tell all my friends out there what kind of kittens you’re giving away.”
“Yes uncle Lee” Suzy said, “They’re CST supporters.”
Taken by surprise, the Prime Minister stammered, “But…but…yesterday, you told me they were PAP SUPPORTERS?”
Little Suzy smiled and said, “I know uncle Lee. But today, the kittens have grown older and their eyes are now wide open!”

On the other hand, this shows that PAP is a very cruel political party who will deny benefits to residents who do not vote for them. It is precisely becos of this, that those imbeciles should not have voted for PAP.

Hopefully, once they get this upgrading, they will wise up for the next GE. But knowing Sinkies.....

This is true in all countries, even in the west. The opposition will do the same thing if they are in power. You must be ignorant right?

It's true that most ruling parties will use whatever within their means to suppress their oppositions.
But to deny the citizens rights in the process, who also pay taxes, to pay their salaries, and yours, is a different issue all together.
This report shows the true colour of PAP, at least for the past 28 years, that they disregards Potong Pasir citizens (and Hougang) for their own political agenda.
That also shows, who's the real Master and servant.

Upgrading of public housing is supposed to be done for all older housing estates regardless of their political affiliation.

The fact that the incumbent PAP govt has turned upgrading from a duty, an obligation into a manipulative, politically-motivated perk is disgusting.

28 years? There's nothing to be proud of. The PAP should be ashamed of itself.

P.S: The Singapore pledge states 'regardless of race, language or religion'. Notice how it conveniently left out 'political persuasion', 'economic class' and 'sexual orientation'?

Citizens are never denied the right to vote in Singapore. What are you talking about?

Yes, but old dog have neutralised this pledge by saying that it is just a ass-piration.

it's not that the opp cannot do, the money is all under the pap's control. pap being sore losers shall make sure the opp voters are being punished. there should be a case against them and convict them for some kind of political mafiaism and protectionism.

Many votes without the right frame of mind, cos they were threaten by the Gov.
Is that how civil servants should behave?
