In the 1970s, a cat 2B HK movie was filmed where part of the scene was the Botanic Gardens. They showed the stone walled front gate with the state crest on the left side and the masthead "Botanic Gardens" on the right side. Other filming locations included Kuala Lumpur.
It was the second instalment of two-series film. Both instalments were later replayed in Singapore and M'sia, but with the sexy scenes deleted.
