What is safe or not is irrelevant. Anything can happen. It is not that they are expensive or that the hotel management wants this to happen. But, the employees maybe be doing that.

As Highlands and Genting Hotels are more expensive than Resort and First World, I thought they are safer. Why did you say that they are equally not safe?

Expensive does not equal value for money in Genting. The system has been carefully set up so that people who do not gamble have to pay a relatively large amount of money for a vacation there. Conversely if you go there and gamble in moderate amounts, you get to enjoy a cheap, casino subsidized vacation. The following is a run down of the different hotels.

First World Hotel: The worst hotel in Genting. The standard of accommodation is worse that Hotel 81. It is popular with young people going for a vacation and who cannot afford anything better. My friends compare this to staying at a Class C ward. A lot of vice activity happens here so it is probably not advisable for young single female travelers.

Theme Park Hotel: Another dump in need of serious renovation. It is popular with families because of the family sized rooms which can sleep parents and kids.

Resort Hotel : This is arguably the best hotel to stay in Genting at the moment. The rooms have been recently refurbished and are therefore of an acceptable 4 star standard. It you are going as a family, there are plenty of adjoining rooms where there is a king sized bed in 1 room and two super singles in another room. This is the preferred hotel for those who go up to Genting regularly to gamble. This is because you can usually get these rooms free if you buy packages or use Genting Points.

Highlands Hotel: This used to the premier hotel for regular Genting gamblers. It has however not been refurbished and is showing its age. Regulars will only stay there if they are on a last minute trip to Genting and cannot get a room at the Resort Hotel. Now that renovations at Genting Hotel are complete, there are plans to refurbish the Highlands Hotel so that it regains its place as the preferred hotel for regular Genting gamblers.

Genting Hotel This is the premier hotel in Genting at the moment. They have converted all the rooms to suites and offer this under their Maxims branding. The rooms are pretty nice and cheap by Singapore standards. If you are looking at a romantic getaway rather than visit the casino, this is the hotel that you should stay in. Very very good for baby making.

So far, the $100 levy has successfully stop me from visiting the 2 casino. But maybe someday i'll go, just to look see look see
I know more SG friends that has not been to the 2 casino then friends that did. And those that did are not regular. So i don't feel the situation here is that bad.

I go Genting to watch movie, very cheap, normally RM$12 only. i watch "the bourne legacy" last week, ticket RM$17 come with pop-corn & soft drink.

So far, the $100 levy has successfully stop me from visiting the 2 casino. But maybe someday i'll go, just to look see look see
I know more SG friends that has not been to the 2 casino then friends that did. And those that did are not regular. So i don't feel the situation here is that bad.

There are plenty of others if you do a Google. There is supposed to be a free shuttle from FWH down to Gohtong Jaya although I have never taken it before. If you are not driving, you can take the Skyway and drop at the Gohtong Jaya station.

On the package, I think they changed it cos they were probably losing money on it. The current package is now earn 5 GP from 12 noon to 8 pm to take part in lucky draw where you can win nn chips or GP. This is on till 16/8/2012. They change their packages constantly so you need to check and update regularly just before you go.

GP - Genting Points. These are points you earn when you play casino games at the casino. The most common use is to exchange these for free rooms and free food vouchers in Genting.

NN chips - Non Negotiable Chips/Slot Credits. These are casino chips / slot credits which you can buy as part of packages. When you purchase these packages, you will get free rooms/ food vouchers etc. Once purchased, these chips / slot credits cannot be changed back to cash. When you play, you therefore use them. If you win, you can get normal chips/slot credits which can then be changed back to cash. The process of converting nn chips/credits to cash chips/credits is known as rolling. Some of the more common nn packages you can buy:

PP 3k/6K package. This gives you a 2 night resort hotel room and 2 Coffee Terrace buffet coupons. The 3k package is for RM 3,000 in nn and is applicable for low season weekdays. The 6k package is for RM 6,000 in nn and is for weekends/holidays. If you are a careful advantage player, you should be able to roll the package and lose only about RM 200 to RM 300 in the process. This in effect means you get to enjoy a 3 day 2 night stay with 2 buffet meals for only RM 200 to RM 300.

RM 200 nn package This refers to the daily package which you can buy for RM 200. This give you a free food voucher, 2 GP and RM 200 nn in chips.

RM 500 package This refers to the daily package which you can buy for RM 500. This give you a free food voucher, 5 GP and RM 300 nn in chips.

The GP are useful to cover free meals in Genting. For 3 GP, you can exchange a free food voucher. Hence if you buy the packages and play modestly, you can easily have 2 free meals a day at Genting.

As a general rule, you should only gamble with nn chips/slot credit when in Genting. When the nn chips/slot credits run out, you should STOP. If you adopt this simple rule, you will always end up enjoying dirt cheap holidays at Genting.

what horror stories?

A groups of friends went Genting Highland and stay in the XXX Hotel...
After having fun at Genting, they went back to the room at rest.

At mid night time...a guy who slept on the single bed , he heard that a women mumbling ...“ 我和你...心连心...背对背...我和你...心连心...背对背...我和你...心连心...背对 背...” ,the sadly and softly voice (with sound of heart beat) keep repeating in the whole night. He was scared by the voice and he felt sick on the next day...His friends think that something wrong for him, so they bring him to temple and pray.But on that day night....The guy still heard the voice keeping repeat all the night, and keep nearer and nearer...“ 我和你...心连心...背对背...”

The lastday on Genting....the guy heard the women voice too....it's really near like beside his ears.....“ 我和你...心连心...背对背...” , He really crazy about it, he suddently flip the mattress up. And all his friends just have a big shock on what they saw.....

It's a girl dead body tied under the bed wooden stick with face down position...(like that those cleaner cant see the body when they clean th bed......) The body not really rotten...maybe the cold environment...at last....they report to the Genting managment...but they give them few thousands Ringgit each to shut theor mouth. This case just fully cover...until got ppl spread this news.

Lastly, do you know why the voice keep repeat“ 我和你...心连心...背对背...” ....????
Cos the position of the dead body is really just fix 心连心...背对背 to the ppl who sleep on bed.....This ghost is really clever ...

Of course you can but much easier to roll yourself. If you are travelling as a family or as a group, you can always pass it to those who want to gamble. The problem with most people is that they carry on gambling after all the nn has been converted to cash and often do not stop until all the money has been lost. The cheap food/room then become very expensive !
