CNA-2014.07.31-Unemployment-rates-in-Q2-hold-steady-amid-tight-labour-market-MOM-640x386.png

I refer to the article “Unemployment rates in Q2 hold steady amid tight labour market: MOM” (Channel NewsAsia, Jul 31).

Only Singaporeans unemployment rate increase?
It states that “Preliminary estimates released by the ministry’s Research and Statistics Department on Thursday (July 31) showed that the overall seasonally adjusted unemployment rates remained at 2.0 per cent – similar to that of the first quarter.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for citizens stayed constant at 3.0 per cent, while resident unemployment rate improved slightly from 2.9 per cent to 2.8 per cent over the same period, according to the figures.”

Only Singaporeans hardest hit by unemployment?

What do the above statistics mean?

That only the unemployment rate of citizens did not improve? Does it mean that Singaporeans found it harder to get jobs relative to PRs and foreigners?

Since foreigners are all on employment pass, S-pass or work permits – there is in a sense, hardly any unemployment amongst foreigners.

95% of jobs growth went to foreigners?

The number of unemployed Singaporeans in June increased by 20,900 from 52,300 in March to 73,200 in June.

Since employment growth for the second quarter was 22,000 – does it mean that about 95% (20,900 divided 22,000) of the increase in jobs went to non-Singaporeans?

If so, what ever happened to the consistent rhetoric in recent years about “Singaporeans First” and curtailing the influx of foreigners?

What’s the point of the relentless chase for jobs growth when most of the jobs don’t go to Singaporeans?

If most Singaporeans continue to give their votes to PAP, regardless of
knowing who their MPs are or to vote for their own HDB upgrading. Then
Singaporeans will just have to face the hard truth of being replaced by
foreigners and new immigrants.

They will face discriminations and racism in their lives, because these
foreigners do not care a bit for local born Singaporeans ! They will continue to
stay as long as it benefit them, and will not hesitate to leave to their birth
country during crisis.

PAP had run out of ideas to grow Singapore.

They cannot step out of their own comfort zone.

Vote for change or rest your peace forever.

Why is our government using our taxpayers’ monies to help China to build their secondary cities even after the bad experiences of losing big monies in Suzhou.
Why is our government using our taxpayers’ monies to rescue failing US banks in the US Subprime crisis.
Why is our government signing so many FTAs including possibly TPP to sacrifice citizens’ jobs, freedom and rights and to allow foreigners to come in free and easy job-hunting visas which are against the interests and welfare of our own citizens?
Why is our government pooling our people’s CPF with other government funds and use our CPF from such common pool to invest in overseas projects that suffer losses. When are our GIC and Temasek going to stop such round tripping to invest our CPF and public funds by setting up private limited companies for which none of our public servants are answerable for any such losses?
Enough of using of our taxes and CPF for purposes not approved by the people. Is our government not setting bad examples to churches so that they too may employ round tripping method in spending public funds to benefit foreign fakes and cronies at the expense of citizens.
When are we going to run our government properly and use our public funds to create jobs for citizens at home?
