SINGAPORE: 50,240 have checked the Registers of Electors. The Registers were open for two weeks ending on March 8 for voters to check their details.
The Elections Department said out of the 50 who submitted claims, most of them applied to have their details updated.
Another 15 objected to either their names or other people's names appearing in their constituencies' list of voters.
359 people also applied to have their names restored because they had not voted in the previous election or elections before that.
When the Registers of Electors are revised, overseas voters have to register again. The Department has so far received 1,001 registrations.
Until a writ of election is issued, these overseas voters can continue to register at the designated overseas missions or online at www.elections.gov.sg or by the post to Elections Department
The centres are Singapore missions in Canberra, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, Washington DC, San Francisco and New York.
The last revision of registers was done a year ago with 2.26 million people on the list of voters.
With this latest update, the registers are expected to be completed and certified in about three weeks. - CNA
