5 SDP POLICIES THAT ARE DANGEROUS FOR THE ECONOMY

Perhaps the party that is most enthusiastic with dishing out policy proposals is the Singapore Democratic Party. They have put together magnificent papers with ideas that promise to change Singaporean lives.

But what are these policies and why do we think it wouldn’t work? Read more here: http://goo.gl/aINRWJ

The lives of 5 million Singaporeans are worth more than one man’s political ambition.

We have done enough for Singapore haven't we?

When economy is bad, all the FTs will leave.

Isn't it good? Is it not time to do something beneficial to Singaporeans instead of Singapore?

The article is so bad that I am glad TS did not post a copy here. It has huge photos, very very narrative and no attempt to point out what is exactly wrong with the policies. At the rate PAP is going it may make sense to have others providing their input.

Just look at the Elected Presidential Office which was primarily conceived to handle a freak election and it ended up having one itself and has proven to be a massive failure. Now they are they trying to fix it.

CSJ's best bet - speak to Yeoh Lam Keong, ex-Chief Economist GIC. That is, if latter wants to talk to him! If not, CSJ can try getting old school mate to help him out - Lam Keong's brother.

Ha ha, bro. scroobal, now only you know the standard of fivestarsandamoon website hah? :)

The articles there are mostly written by PAP IBs - not worth wasting time reading them!

TS was quite smart, he purposely did not include the link with the website address in his original post, or many readers would not have clicked it at all.

Anyone with half a brain can see what is wrong with the policies. I've experienced all first hand in OZ / NZ and I've seen how the minimum wage does absolutely nothing for the poor while causing immeasurable harm to the economy.

And we know full well from human nature that most people can't handle windfalls. It would take an astute financial operator to manage $50,000 or more suddenly available in their bank accounts so that it can last another 20 to 30 years.

Can't comment on defense spending because I've lost touch with what Singapore is spending money on but we all know that speaking softly and carrying a big stick is still the best form of diplomacy. Singapore has to send a message to its neighbours in no uncertain terms that it is no pushover and that aggression will be costly.

GIC - no comment... not my area of expertise.

I know bro. Its bunch of narcissists who can't string a coherent argument to save their lives.

Any party that can suggest a drastic 40% cut in defence spending is sure a gone case as far as the middle ground voters are concern.

If pap ever engages sdp policies, their main attacking point will be on sdp defence policy because it is where the source of funds for their social spending proposals will come from. If pap can rubbish sdp defence proposal as reckless and ill thought, the rest of sdp proposals will crumble because where is the money going to come from if defence spending can't be channelled towards these areas?
