SINGAPORE: A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman died on Thursday (Feb 14) at Kranji Camp II, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said in a statement.

The 33-year-old was found motionless at a stairway landing of a building at 5.10pm, said the ministry.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force were activated by the unit, and the serviceman was pronounced dead on site at 5.30pm by an SAF medical officer.

"This death is non-training related," the ministry said. "The Ministry of Defence and the SAF are assisting the family in their time of grief."

The police said that based on preliminary investigations, they do not suspect foul play.

The case has been classified as an unnatural death and investigations are ongoing, the police added.

The incident comes less than a month after the death of actor Aloysius Pang, who died after sustaining serious injuries during an SAF training exercise in New Zealand.

Pang, 28, an armament technician with the 268th Battalion Singapore Artillery, was on reservist at the Waiouru Training Area in New Zealand as part of an annual SAF exercise called Exercise Thunder Warrior.

Pang was the fourth SAF national serviceman to die in training-related accidents in the last year-and-a-half.

Last year, a number of servicemen also died in incidents not related to training.

In July 2018, an off-duty regular serviceman from the SAF Medical Training Institute was found hanging from a rope in his bunk in Nee Soon Camp.

Two months later in September, an SAF full-time national serviceman was also found hanging from a rope in his office at Sembawang Air Base. He was a transport operator from 706 Squadron.

Last October, a regular serviceman also died in an accident after he was hit by a falling tree branch in Brunei.

Or did he blow his brains out with his SAR 21 while on guard duty because he got dumped on Valentine's Day?

SAF must be seriously haunted by ghosts in white to have so many killer ropes and cables. It's time to dissolve the whiter than white crony-cum-horse infested organization to clear out the bad kamma.
