This may not come as a surprise to us young ‘uns, but a significant portion of millennials quit their jobs after less than a year in the company.

New research by job site Monster.com found that 30 percent of fresh graduates they surveyed choose to leave their job in less than 12 months, with a majority of them attributing their decision to professional growth, money and change in career direction. This, despite, nearly half of them taking up to three months to get hired in the first place.

Call it millennial entitlement or whatever, but the job portal also found numerous mismatches between talent and employer expectations when it came to the fresh grad job seeker experience. Fifty percent of employers surveyed called them “unprofessional” for bringing up salary and compensation in the first job interview, rather than discussing job roles. Eighty percent of the employers also believe that their company provides sufficient support for the fresh meat to excel and grow.

Millennial seem to disagree. Sixty-one percent noted that their biggest challenge was a lack of industry knowledge, while 34 percent said that the lack of mentorship pushed them to leave. Others cited long work hours and not having enough feedback and support from direct managers to succeed.

The majority of employers are in agreement that young local talent have unrealistic expectations when it comes to salaries and pace of growth, but many might be failing to realize just how big a consideration money is,” said Sanjay Modi, Monster.com’s managing director for APAC and Middle East.

HR & Finance in many GLCs, stat boards and govt agencies are run by Filipinos. These are the people prefered by the paradropped LTCs, COLs and BGs because of their obedience and disregard for corporate best practices to please their arrogant superiors.

Local job applicants are indirectly at the mercy of these biased foreign HR and Finance staff who will low-ball the locals and favor their kind?

Don't believe? Wait till you run into one of such.
