I'm aware this is an very old article but I'm wondering... does anybody have any new and updated information on the idendity crisis of Chinese Singaporeans? has the number of proud being Chinese increased or decreased?

No doubt that communist China is the reason for making other Chinese nations ashamed of their identity. after all that milk scandals endlessness shameful incidents that keep continuing to happen in China, I'm pretty sure 40% of Singaporeans are ashamed of being Chinese.

No, it is LKY that has made Sporeans feel inferior. That guy will praise any foreign Tom Dick & Harry AND criticise Singaporeans. Just because he is ashamed of being a chinese, this is not a reason to spread his beliefs. He's used the local media to spread his ideas.

I know many ex-Sporeans that have gone on to be Canadians, Australians, Americans,....
I was browsing one of his books & noticed that he is credited with "Nation Building" This bugger is responsible for many of the problems faced by Sporeans & when he ups the lorry I predict more hard truths will come out debunking the myth of LKY

That's funny. My malay colleague told me that his son flnked Malay in Pri. 4 while we were conversing about Chinese kids having a hard time with their "mother tongue." I asked him what language they spoke at home - his reply, Singlish. And what about Malays movies/dramas? He said his wife and kids are addicted to Korean serials. What a world we live in!!

Actually, the local paper is the biggest instituitional culprit for the way things are. Just think - ONE offical paper read by ALL, for generations. This is something that the people can fix if they want to - fucking boycott the ST.

I have cable & KBS is the korean channel was previously included as a freebie. My parents watch the korean dramas more than any other channel

Recently Starhub announced that KBS would no longer be free. Obviously Starhub is aware of the popularity & has tried to take advantage $$$.

I simply eliminated some channels & included KBS. My monthly bill is now lower Thank you Starhub

China is mostly the culprit, although admit LKY like to praise foreign superiority over Chinese people. China = Chinese gives an negative image and influence to all Chinese. All Chinese, whether you are from Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Taiwan or even overseas Chinese would know China shames all the Chinese people today.
