SINGAPORE: For the first time, the Sword of Honour in the Singapore Armed Forces Military Domain Experts Course has been won by a woman.

Debbie Phua topped her cohort of 30 graduates, all of whom were appointed as Military Experts 4 at a ceremony on Friday.

The 24-year-old, who's with the armoured unit, is a specialist in servicing the Leopard tanks.

At the ceremony, Minister of State for Defence and Education, Lawrence Wong urged Military Experts to continuously develop themselves.

The training conducted during their course enabled them to develop leadership competency, deepen military domain knowledge and hone specialisation skills.

The newly appointed Senior Military Experts will move on to assume command or technical appointments in their professional areas.
