18-year-old arrested for snatching handbag

SINGAPORE - An 18-year-old male has been arrested in relation to a case of snatch theft at Jalan Membina.
At about 2am on June 26, a woman, 27, was walking along Jalan Membina when the suspect came from behind and snatched her handbag. The victim gave chase but lost sight of the suspect.
With the victim's physical description of the suspect, officers established his identity and arrested him along Henderson Road on July 2 at 10.00pm.
The suspect will be charged in Court tomorrow. If convicted, he faces a maximum punishment of seven years in prison and caning.
