AS SOMEONE with one of the wildest imaginations in the digital world, Will Wright was surprised by the S'pore Zoo.
Here for the first time, the game designer behind the world's best-selling PC game The Sims, said the zoo had 'an interesting blend of modern and tropical'.
In a way, the tourist attraction is a microcosm of Singapore, he added.
He mused about the island Republic: 'It's kind of Jamaica in the tropical. We got the Asian efficiency and modernism of Tokyo. So if you were to build Tokyo in Jamaica, it'd be like Singapore.'
You might be able to replicate this experiment in his new game Spore. The highly anticipated title, which will be released on Sept 7, allows gamers to create their own lifeforms, build tribes, colonise others, and then conquer space. The 48-year-old American entrepreneur was here last week to promote the game, as well as for the Global Brand Forum, where director Spike Lee and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales gave talks about creativity.
