I think their balls shrunk liao. That's why we're having a lockdown now, with strict new laws on movement. They were too complacent and too confident of themselves, with premature talks of relaxing our border control. In the case of a sinking ship the majority of those on board are done for.

However with the stats showing the extent of the infection now hindsight tells me that he could have done nothing at all and Singapore will still be fine.

The official figure for H1N1 in 2009 was 26 deaths when Singapore's population was probably about 4.5 million. If nothing is done and the death toll for Covid-19 related deaths can be kept under 30 it will mean that Covid-19 has done less damage from a human health perspective than H1N1.

Of course what it has done to the economy is another story altogether.
