this old general is probably moved by the CCP's sweet talks of Chinese reunification that appeals to the patriots who love China like him. the PRC is now rich and powerful unlike 40 years ago, and some people on Taiwan now feel inclined toward them, to agree with them, the CCP can't be so bad otherwise why is China doing so well now ?

Tibet was a independent state before china invaded. Dalai lama was even accorded official visit to beijing before mao invaded tibet.
