10 reasons to retire early

I do not mind travelling alone. Perhaps when I do it, I will need to book those budget double bed bunk to avoid living alone in an eerie hotel room.
I remember a colleague who travels alone as he is a bachelor in his 50s. He loves photography and it is this hobby which gives him something to do in the absence of a travel partner/spouse. However, he admits to extreme loneliness at times.

The transition from working life to retirement isn't just mentally taxing; it may be physically risky. There is research that suggests retirement, particularly the first year, is a major life stressor. Some studies found that retirees are 40% more likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke compared to those who continue to work.

Everyone is depressed at a different magnitude.
Those busy working are merely using work to compress it.
The shift from a manager, teacher or engineer to a retiree triggers an identity crisis. Without the status and recognition of a job, retirees may feel they have lost their value to society. Many of my retired friends shared this aspect.

I or a person should only feel this way if me or them is holding a key position and career that many people knows about them eg a well. Known loctor, surgeon, lawyer, ministers etc but not a position in an office holding any key positions whereby the world doesn't even know their existence while they were still working.

Having enough money is much more important than their dellusions of their values in the society.

Many retirees feel that they are ready to walk away from their careers after they have gained financial freedom, only to realise that money is but a prerequisite for retirement. There are other factors they didn't consider.

The people who navigate retirement successfully are usually those who cultivated interests, values and connections that have nothing to do with their social standing. They didn't wait for the role to end to start being themselves; they were themselves while playing the role.
