The problem with China/Chinese TV dramas is that Jinyong's stories have been retold too many times and gets boring. The Koreans never do a remake, even for "Jewel In The Palace".
China and the mainland Chinese have a huge problem. After 70 years of no-spiritual and no-religious education forced upon its people, there is nothing more to talk about the "Chinese culture" that their leaders hope to export and make an impact on the world - Chinese culture is dead! True culture may come only from a living soul. Strictly non-spiritual upbringing has cause damage to the souls of the present generations of Chinese. You cannot have things of good quality from a race whose souls have suffered serious damage. It is for this reason that there is a lot of backlash against China and the Chinese.
Chinese entertainment industries is unrivaled in the world - Guinness world record. There was an anti-Japanese movie not too long ago where they have this story lines... brave Chinese enlisting during the 1930's wanting to fight the devil Japanese. A young teenager volunteered; before going to war, he lamented he had never seen the naked body of any girl...so the director had this scene where a patriotic young sweet-seventeen girl decided to give a memorable sent-off to these young fighters... She stood at attention fully naked saluting the new recruits going to war...Such creativity could only happen in Xi's China...Limbo rock...How low can you go?
Occasionally, there is a good Chinese TV drama - a rarity.
