1. Goh Meng Seng thinks that Tampines residents will vote for a failure or tax-dodger.
After that many years in business, Goh Meng Seng claimed that he does not have $20k for election deposit and expenses, and have to sell his HDB flat to raise th.......................sident are looking for serious and honest oppositions like Chiam ST or Philip Jeyeratnam to offer a more credble challenge to the incumbent.
I am in total agreement with what you have written, BUT I still prefer NSP wins over PAP @ Tampines GRC, though a person of questionable qualities would be there. this we have to leave to the larger leadership of NSP to judge.
responsibility for the electorate is to vote out the old regime and with it most the oppressive policies. responsibility for the political parties is to put up credible candidate for the electorate. If the larger leadership NSP do not see to its responsibility to check the credibility and ability of its candidates, their demise would be just the same.
Sadly, NSP seems to be just a vehicle for this One Man Show, self gallantry supposed "knight" in shinning armor. Other parties already starts to show case their other candidates but so far NSP.. only one mouth loud hailer who was and still is often misquoted by the media, speaking.
Back to the topic of electoral boundary changes, Singapore is a small country and after all the shifts and cuts of electoral boundaries over the Goh Chok Tong years, there's no much room left except going back to square one. That's why Lee Hsien Loong announced go back to more SMCs and smaller GRCs. To pre-empt a swing of middle votes fearing loss of opposition representation, he also announced substantial increase in NCMPs. This also has the effect creating opposition competition and hostility among each other even without direct multi-cornered contests.
