Why FTs bring down producvtivity.

The construction sector employs a few hundred thousand FTs. Once the IRs are built, I expect a large number to return home.

But there are still many low-waged FTs in other sectors that are very unproductive and bosses do not seem at all concerned to incraese producvity.

I think there is a lot of money to be made from these FTs by these bosses. Each FT that comes in pays a lump sum, to get employed here. BOsses get a huge payday at one go.

For the salaries, since ALL companies in the industry hire so many FTs, and the wages of these FTs are factored into the contracts, even though they are unproductive, they will still get the projects and they will be paid enough for the projects to cover the FTs wages and still earn.

So, in short, these bosses earn on two fronts, from the FTs and from the proejcts.

The cause of the problems is that the garment doesn't do anything to prevent expolitation of these workers. Since, we hire Fts from a few countries, sourcing for these FTs should be a garment endeavour to prevent exploitation of the workers.

And when workers are brought here they have to be protected from unscrupulous bosses. The various garment sectors must also ensure that each firm engages in productivity programmes with benefits given to those that are successful and demerits for those who neglect thei workers or re poor at increasing productivity.

Until we get a garment that is sincere in upholding human rights, we will always have unproductive FTs and bosses who exploit these FTs. In fact, bosses now face the ironic case of earning more by hiring more and at the same time neglecting productivity gains.

By bosses, I am only looking at industries that predominantly hire low-waged FTs.
