PETALING JAYA: The two men arrested for allegedly robbing and slashing Dr Delaila Ahmad in front of her clinic in Subang Jaya are expected to be charged tomorrow.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the two suspects, aged 20 and 22, would be brought to the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where they would be charged for their crimes.
“They were detained on July 19 while their remand order would expire on Tuesday.
“It is true that both of them had confessed to the crime but we want to ensure we have an air tight case,” he said when contacted Monday.
ACP Yahaya said police have already submitted investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
“We expect both of them to be charged for their crimes,” he said.
It was reported that Dr Delaila was robbed in front of her clinic in SS19 in the wee hours of the morning on July 16 by two suspects.
The suspects even severed her thumb and little finger but she has reportedly went for surgery in Sime Darby Medical Centre.
Dr Delaila was leaving her clinic and alighting her car when two men on a motorcycle snatched her handbag.
She resisted and was slashed multiple times by one of the men resulting in two of her fingers being severed.
A picture of the two youths has been posted on the Malaysian Crime Awareness Campaign Facebook page.
Those with information on the case are urged to contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
However, on July 19, the parents of one of the suspects turned both of them in after suspecting their involvement in the crime.
