Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the man will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court.
PETALING JAYA: The Israeli man caught in Ampang with six guns and 200 bullets last month will be charged tomorrow, according to Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain.
Razarudin said the 36-year-old man, identified by Israeli news outlets as Shalom Avitan, an associate of the Musli brothers crime family, would be charged at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court.
“The main suspect who is under remand will be brought to court tomorrow to be charged. The other suspects still in custody will be further remanded to assist in investigations,” said the top cop, according to Harian Metro.
The Times of Israel reported that Avitan came to Malaysia to assassinate Eran Haya, purportedly the leader of a rival criminal group.
Last week, the New Sunday Times quoted sources as saying that Eran was among those detained by the police in operations conducted in Kuala Lumpur and Johor on April 4 and 5.
Eran, a citizen of both Turkey and the US, also holds a Polish passport which he used to enter Malaysia in February.
The sources said that an embassy contacted the police to locate and protect Eran after claims emerged that he was the target of an assassination attempt by the 38-year-old Israeli.
Razarudin previously said the police had arrested 15 people in connection with Avitan.
