when the album first came out, we played the song on the record in reverse and a different score caused our hair to stand. it's still my favorite song to play when i drive from santa cruz to monterey and down to morro bay and san luis obispo. the hotel is supposedly in baja, mexico. my interpretation of the song is about drug addicts going south and never able to kick the habit.
